It was said somewhere else on here that this place is dying so here's a rebuild thread to liven things up or bore you to tears. It should be better than nothing- This was my first smallie. I'd always promised myself one. This is what started the addiction I now have. The orange one was not restored by me but by some "experts" in Wales. The paintjob was shit and the fvker leaked oil from the gearchange and the oil drain plug. It was then I decided that I could probably do better myself. So I did this Nuova: Then this ET3 A 50N And finally a Procup Now it's time to re-do the orange one: Strip down Re paint in Verde Algae and all chrome will be black Starting the floor runners Horn sprayed black and fitted Loom fitted and ready to start connecting it up.

Floor runners sprayed black and fitted Centre mat fitted with black screws All done! BGM silent blocks fitted New front brake cable, inner and outer fitted- was much easier when I finally remembered to remove the end cap I've discovered that the previous idiot owner changed it to series 1 badges and just filled in the holes with filler and resprayed it. I had the frame blasted and didn't notice the 4 small holes (2 front and 2 rear) otherwise I would have had them welded. BUGGER! I've ordered some small black plugs for them (maye I can touch them up) but it's really pissed me off. Next week: Rear brake, stand and assemble front hub.

while the case is in bits are you going to replace those little o-rings on the gear selector or has that been done already

while the case is in bits are you going to replace those little o-rings on the gear selector or has that been done already After I'd shipped it to Italy it started leaking so a mate split the engine (all my tools are over here) and upsized the o-ring plus upgraded the crank and pipe while he was at it. I was looking for a better solution so when I was in Italy in December I bought one of these: As you can see it has a more precise linkage and a double o-ring on the selector shaft. Not cheap but it was either this or drill and re-bush the hole and I'm not that brave.

its a fa italia one with a upgraded linkage , the fa italia v range gear selector shafts all have 2 o-rings now . without shimming the lower ring sits just at mouth of cases an acts more as a dust seal than a oilseal . but with shimming up sits inside , but then you'll find the cable arm has to be ground down a bit so it doesnt hit cases before taper pin will fit in .H

At least I'll be prepared for that shit-show now. I had to buy a new selector anyway as despite me trying every trick in the book (wd40, special mole grips, drift, heat, and more heat) I had to finally dremel the arm to get the pin out. I know, I'm still pissed that it beat me.

Another fascinating instalment of the build! Rear brake pedal sprayed black and cable and switch changed and ready for fitting In she goes Bit of wd40 and on goes the pedal rubber. Actually bought the right one this time! New fast flow fuel tap, fitted in minutes! Mudguard crest painted and fitted And finally, centre stand fitted. A productive couple of hours in the garage. I would say I'm getting good at this but that will only guarantee an absolute shitefest of problems next week. Shocks on and rebuild hub/steering column and fit next week. Then it's the dreaded headset fitting! My pile of parts in the box are gradually decreasing meaning I'm going to have to make a decision on the engine upgrade soon. I'm almost sure it'll be the ET7. I've decided to go with the DRT short 4th cluster, polini evo 27/69 clutch basket, and a polini evo wave clutch with crimaz PKXL clutch arm and pressure plate upgrade but I've yet to decide on the crank, carb and pipe to go with it.

i'd suggest the benelli short 4th tree over the drt ,there pretty much the same money but benellis way stronger . an could save yourself some cash by knocking the name polini off everything ,the drt sports about 40 quid cheaper an better .an if youve a clutch to build the polini wave spring an a newfren clutch plate kits about £25 an will hold a et7 easily .H

Top work! On my procup I did the "wave and newfren" thing but I also used the crimaz pressure plate, crimaz easy clutch, and crimaz push rod clutch cover conversion. Is it worth doing any of these 3 crimaz mods, or is there a better alternative, or are they pointless for this build? TIA

One other question: With a 27/69 ..... Z 10-14-18-21 or Z 10-14-18-20?
