2 man job start at the top in the middle work down to the curved part at top of leg shield do all the top first, then get a buddy to hold the panel still and stop it bending as you work down the sides, keep tool at 90 degrees to panel, you need to remove the top fork bearing track and cables though wires can be left in,
the tool comes with instructions but its 90 degrees and brute force,.
i`ll post a copy of the page from the workshop manual but its optamistic in its descrition (it just sounds so easy) i found it a c*nt of a job, i`m sure its all about practice cos vespa did an awfull lot of them and theres look nice

a very nice day today. it still needs the runners fitted and the legshield mess replacing, but i had a little blast up the local road (a couple of hundred yards or so) 1st gear 30+mph then straight into 3rd and it`s ready to go, it seems that the porting suits the very long (110mm) conrod that i used. the franz exhaust has quite a long tuned length this seems to add to the effect of the long rod, loads and loads and loads of bottom end grunt. the gearing is very high this was intentional the 3rd gear is very close to what others are getting with the runner tree in 4th. if i need to blast it i will use three gears but for normal every day use tootling along in 4th at 40-60 will still be fine. if after a few months i decide i am not happy with the gearing i will come down a bit on the primaries and consider an alloy setup.
the next few jobs are all simple stuff; fit the runners, find out why the dipped beam aint working (tw*t), insurance, mot, tax (No more tax disks after october if you have a tax disk keep it for when you come to selling your current ride), play with the timing (advance untill it pinks and then retard by 1 degree), do a few plug checks-adjust carb to suite, then a dyno run to get an idea of the power output (guessing at 12-15) and to see what speed it realy (not what the speedo says)
will post a couple of pics in a week or two then this thread will be as dead as the proverbial do-do

just about finished, i ran out of rivets for the runners so got a couple more today (a tomorrow job). headlight bulb packed in cos when the engine runs i get 14 volt on the charging circuit, 6 volt bulbs dont last long at 14volt. next is wash and wax then get it road legal, a few pics of how it looks now the legshield trim is definatly going to be replaced its not right and i dont like bad workmanship if you want to have a go at doing a legshield trim yourself, here`s a link to the workshop instructions (it sounds so easy) i897.photobucket.com/albums/ac178/tzrsteve/finsihed/page62.png?t=1410362899?395i897.photobucket.com/albums/ac178/tzrsteve/finsihed/page63.png?t=1410362822?578could someone post the instructions for this rev counter as i aint got any. i think this thread is now at an end thanks gents for the interest and bits of help the next relevant post from me should be a dyno report

thanks for tips on legshield trim an links ,that tacho looks the same as 1 i fitted on mates xt600 flatracker ,still got instructions at mine ,will look em out an get missus to scan n post em ok ,but from memory there a bit sparse n confusing an i got it registering right by trial n error mostly , still havent sussed the matchin digital speedo , one thing i do remember if triggered by wire wrapped around ht lead its got to be 20-25 turns + an tight ,i used shrink wrap to get it close enuff to get a "clean" signal for trigger ,H

jesus ,9 grand , try bennets ive found em reasonable before on modded bikes ,there the only site with drop-downs menus for mod's ,an more than 3 mod's (thats a rally in-tit)an ya got to ring em , an as i said when promising to send ya the koyo tacho "destructions" there not comprehensive an a bit confusing ,but as a engineer you will have been taught like me ,you only go to the "destructions"when all else fails, but from failing memory pugwashes wiring sounds bout right ,cept there was a bit about switched/unswitched feeds not being from same source, will post the programming details sunday/monday when home, if ya pm me ya e mail address i'll scan n send a copy of destructions as a attachment,ok,H
