Im not sure what colour she is, dont think this is a piaggio colour but i will be keeping it as i think it suits the lines of the PK. Bart (Potatopl) has a similar colour on his PK XL and I agree it does suit them well. It's coming along nicely, well done so far. Also I can't quite make it out, is it still on the standard 50 front end? You'll probably want to address that if so.

Hi Juan - thanks for comments. It is standard front end still, I have managed to source the later PK forks so I can stick on a disc brake as I think it would be really dangerous if not!

That is some pipe, is it going to restrict your lh cornering though?

Don't under estimate the standard drum if it's just the braking force you're worried about, they're really quite good. Obviously it doesn't have the refinement of a disc nor the looks so if that's your concern then fair enough.

Oh ok, will give it a go once the engine is running.............but if i end up in a neck brace then its your fault!

I second daves Drum comment. Pkxl Drum brakes are good and shouldn't be shunted. as long as they are well set up.

Not the most exciting update but................... Cleaned the worst areas or the underside and treated any areas that looked like they had any rust

also found some rust bubbles near to the rear shock mount, I got a wire wheel on a die grinder in there - got all the loose stuff out and treated the area. though about plating this but just cant get in there as its really tight. will keep a close eye on this but the shock mount is absolutely solid so not too worried.

I have used dinitrol in the past and think its products are great so first application was with 3125, this doesn't fully dry and creeps in to all areas - it has a slight neutralising effect on any rusted areas, drives out moisture and can also be applied over dirt/grime/oil etc After application

I left the 3125 for 2 days before applying 4941, this is like a top coat of wax. Its dries to a harder finish and is almost black - will post up some pics once its dried during the week.

Well............im ashamed to say that I have made some great progress but haven't updated this thread:-( engine is in, wired up and running. Started after a few kicks and sounds awsome! throttle response is out of this world, sounds like a miniature superbike!!! got some teething problems but nothing too serious. I will get some pics on here very soon.
Ps she goes like a stabbed rat and powerband is brutal.
