Ive bust the Falc again ... but this time properly Went for a burn yesterday and having loads of fast fun on the back roads reading to wallingford ...not abusing it that much and thats the truth .... Pulled away from a roundabout and got about 50 yards up the road and then burrrrrrrrrr .....as if maybe the carb had fallen off or even plug cap .. coasted to a stop jumped off and had a look but nothing obvious ... Any way after a few kicks and a deffinite blowing sound coming from somewhere .... i looked through the spare wheel side too the bottom of the barrel and noticed i noticed a huge crack that runs from where the original inlet stud was right round the engine bolt underneath the exhaust flange ,,,, Got relayed back home and removed the flywheel and the crack had met up both sides toooooo.... Plan ' B ' New casings and heaps of welding to strengthen..... ill try and put up some pictures ..... Hopefully theres no other damage ... Any clean bare pk xl casings wellcome ( at a reasonable price please ) Im not giving up though guys .......just teething problems id say

How many miles had you racked up on it Nic?
I'm wondering whether anyone has got MANY miles out of a falc kit, or is it simply too much for the casings?

Yeah double Doh ! Mileage wise yesterday as paul daniel s say's " Not alot" about 25 miles ...but altogether maybe 40 odd ....still shite .....oh well.. Im thinking that were the crank mouth has been machined for the spigot ,its thinned the ally ......so not the meat as before ..... Thanks for all your love though /sorry i mean support ....doesnt seem as bad now ...! ! ;D Im still grinning though .... Your right though in reply to weather its for road just sprinting .....thats what makes me want to get it so that i can do a few ( sorry more than a few) miles on it .... Reading this I think that some of you have it back to front. I reckon that if a motor can withstand the abuse and extra power of the track then a few road miles is surely within its coping. I would say that not enough weld was done to the exterior if the transfers. And/or the motor case was wrongly machined. There are other reasons of course. Maybe the piston was hitting the head. I've seen this before. I would say that this lauro tested that kit to extreme before launching it. I read up on the article in scootering and quite fancy a falc myself. Worb, let us know what you find. There must be a reason why it broke.. its certainly not because it 'is too much'. Btw do you use the Falc crank?

A lot of italians use Falc kits for road use and they love it! ;D

Dunno Shrew, looking at it logically 25 bhp is a Hell of a lot to shove through cases that were designed to take 8. Not saying it's the cause but it is a factor.

Sorry shrew but what are you on I now know why it cracked as i said previously ..... Where the crank case mouth has been machined out ( havernt measured the difference between mine and standard) it has weekend the cases , Im going to try and get some pictures up so youll see what i mean .. Thats why ! ! spoke to Rob at jb tuning ,and his did the same but not as bad so managed to get it repaired/strengthend... wether Tony O'b has had his strengthend i dont know .... Yes mines on the road ,But the others you see (or ive seen) are all sprint bikes ......... Again weather that makes a difference i dont know ..... Oh and yes i am using the Falc crank and you can even see it through the crack ....... Oh and im going to have it tuned while its in bits so there ! ! as Paul Daniels said ( again ) not alot though ...

Sprint and race bikes will have more power put through them but for a shorter space of time. Not sure what that means in regards to longevity of race vs road. racers do tend to accept breakages more readily than road users though
Interesting that everything that can be upgraded by lauro is upgraded, but the cases can't be, of which material is taken away... the cases certainly have to be the weak link in the chain here.
I understand what you're saying about testing shrew, but most of the cases built up will be 20+ years old, and not many people will have owned them from new, so there's a good chance they may already have been weakened during their life

I believe Lauro can supply new casings, milled and ported. I also believe them to be ets or pk casings .
