Started tuning the cases today, matching them to the cylinder. I offered up the cylinder and scribed where the cases needed enlarging and then got active with the dremel and a carbide bit. I will need to get some aluminum welded as the gasket face of the cases in one area is only 1mm and this will leak for sure.

Ash, I'm not an expert at tuning but was not planning to take out as much metal as you have - is this motor you have done running, whats it like?

some epoxy putty, like quiksteel, will do the job. No welding needed

its good, run 15.2hp and hit 87mph on dyno wit 26mm carb, no polishing and a hole in exhaust, now its on a 28mm and hammerzombie pipe and ports are like a mirror feels like 17hp+

Will keep mine a little more conservative and see how it goes. Still think it will motor though. Ordering crank next week so engine rebuild next.

You know when you think in your head you should stop dremelling but you say to yourself just a little bit more... Well guess who has just gone through his bl**dy cases...

unlucky mate, u should keep pinching it to feel for the thickness the picture i posted required no welding, if you take your time, you can get them big without going through

I know b*lls and all that - hey sorted now though, and all cleaned ready for rebuild - happy with cylinder also. A lot of work widening ports but its gonna be worth it. I like old school tuning.
