you dont need the tubes on the carb if you dont want them, i took them off my pwk as there a pain in the arse inside the frame, you may find the 135 main a bit rich for the 28 and find you may need 125- 128 Cheers Jonny, yeah someone on Facebook even suggested they ran a 105 main. I've got the 125-140 jet set so hopefully it'll fall somewhere in that bracket! Good to know I don't need the predator haircut if I don't want, I've trimmed the tubes right down now so they end just after going through the guide hole things, they were a foot long before...

yeah 105 may be a little low but dont be surprised if you have to come down to 118 or so, the tubes are just there to stop shit getting in there, unlikely since you wont be using it for mx

Right - I’m sure at least a couple of you are wondering what happened to this project. It’s finished! I did all this over the summer, but have only now got round to uploading some photos. However - I now live 4,000 miles away from it. Which is a shame, but it’s waiting for me when I come back from Abu Dhabi (a country you’d have to be mad to ride anything two-wheeled in) in a few years time. The worst part is it’s finished but I didn’t get to ride it before I left; I finished the wiring about an hour before we had to leave for the airport! Until then, I have these photographs to cheer me up. First post - the engine build. I’ll follow up with the frame photos tomorrow. Clutch - Newfren 24 Spring with 3 race spec (green stuff) Surflex plates. Welded cush drive - checked that it still moves, affirmative. Gear selector in… Cases heated, bearings cooled, I’d like to say they dropped straight in but needed a bit of work! I pressed them in rather than bashing them. Circlip installation made a lot easier with this kind of circlip plier! Malossi fancy seals in. Also used a bit of Q-Bond to fix the anti-tamper groove in the sealing pad. DRT Runner tree in. Wish me luck… Mazz ETS Race Crank in, giving around 195 on the inlet timing (it needed chilling a little…) Primaries in and loctited Polini 28mm inlet Had to open it up slightly with the dremel to match the hole on the cases Gears tightly shimmed and installed. Had an issue with the circlips from SIP being far too thick and creating negative shimmage, had to reuse the old ones. Plenty of life left in them, though! V range kickstart on PK cases Stagg Wellseal all up in this Togetherness! Nord Lock and Loctite. Just call me Jimmy ‘overkill’ D Clutch in. Using XL2 cover so this is the special SIP-designed lowered version of the XL2 push plate. AKA an absolute fucker to get in!! Mmm. Studs and K nuts. Copper nuts on the exhaust port 3mm packing plate, dremeled to match the ports Barrel on Making a brass head gasket Quick squish test… all is well Final timings, and some nords to seal the deal PK stator rewired to streamline the wiring (as I’m mounting the CDI inside) Lightened flywheel on Brake pads Rear hub (I know I don’t need to label these but hey ) PWK 28 carb, PM40 exhaust on…. finished! And here’s the first start… it runs like a bag of horse manure, and will do until I get to set it up right. In 2-3 years time

Well done Jimmy. Great video clarity. Sounds rich as though. Presume was still on choke. Good luck out in the desert.

Well done Jimmy. What's the deal with the move, have you and/or the missus scored a decent gig over there?

A technical question, but slightly un-smallframe: what camera did you use for the pics and did you light it? Top notch!

Well done Jimmy. What's the deal with the move, have you and/or the missus scored a decent gig over there? Yep, she's teaching English here, and we get accommodation free, flights home etc. Meanwhile I'm job hunting*! *a kept man

Top job, well done. I would never be able to carry out a resto to the level you have achieved here. How did you not scratch something obvious just at the very end? that's what would happen to me.
