So here she is. Used for grocery runs by its 1 lady owner between 1975 'til 2002, then stored in a barn when she got too old to ride. Sold to Ben the lucky local mechanic last Christmas for peanuts, who then sold it to me this weekend. Thanks to all that helped me work out whether it'd fit in a VW Polo (yes, no sweat with wheels removed). Engine is untouched and kicks over smoothly. Not running yet but I think it just needs the points sorting, a new HT coil and some petrol. Unlike EVERYTHING ELSE, which has been painted in thick blue/grey gloss sometime in the past... the lady owner couldn't even remember it being done. The paint may look fairly awful and yes, it'd have been worth far more with original paint, but I think in many ways it's saved the frame. It's still completely solid, apart from a few rusty patches. It could probably do with a new floor at some point, but no major rush. This is the only (visible) proper rot on the scoot... It's done about 200 miles since 1998, according to the various MOT certificates I have. And finally... all docs in order The best part is the numberplate, for me. My initials are JDV and I was born in '85 ;D My plan is to get the frame tidied up, new badges etc but not worry about the paint job or rusty bits for now; a commuter scooter that'll be ridden through heavy traffic and parked in tight spaces does not need a show finish! Eventually when I have the time, budget and a garage, I will look to completely restore the frame, maybe a new floor and so on. Until then it shall be ridden not hidden.

Maybe in a few years I'll restore properly. The engine kicks over fine, just needs new CDI. I'll probably sell it and leave someone else to split it etc though. PS. the ebay photos were blurry cameraphone shots, anyone basing a purchase on them (ie. all the bidders!) is a fool. I went down and saw for myself and paid cash.

Only thinking by the time i've bought wire wool, paint stripper and black paint I will probably have spent more than if I just bought some new ones :/

Jimmy that's a beaut, you're not going to leave it chained up outside are you? Surely that warrants a shed at the very least? Best of luck with bringing the old girl back to life

Best of luck with bringing the old girl back to life I don't have a shed just a 1 bedroom flat in London. Hopefully in a year or so will be able to get somewhere with a shed/garage! It'll have a waterproof cover over it though.

Love the look of this one, including the period reg plates on the front mudguard. I'm sure these were no longer a requirement for an N-reg bike, but definitely add to the character.
Shame the paint job was done on a beach on a windy day! Nice colour, though!
Sounds like a great idea to get it running, ride it for a summer to mull over how you want it, then get a flat with a garage :-) and spend the winter in there!
Look forward to following progress. Good luck!

Hi! Nice scoot. (and even better pictures). You might be able wash the household paint off with thinners or have a go to flick it off with a plastic scrapper first? There's worse been 'looked after' on one of the German sites where they go mad for a bit of o'lac. good luck with it
