Dropped off at London Scooter Bodyshop today. My man Dave (in shot) will be working his magic. Sadly the extent of the rot is more than I thought so he's going to have to do a fair bit of fabricating to the floor, legs and back, which has put the price up - but from what I saw at his workshop he's going to do a fine job.

He says he restores one rotten scoot a week at the moment!

It's still with London Scooter Bodyshop, he said he'd give me a ring when he starts it but no call yet so I guess it's still in the waiting room

I don't really have anywhere to put it when he does do it so I'm in no rush, but rest assured i'll post pics as soon as i have an update!

Frame now blasted. Tinworm really pretty bad, going to take a bit of time to reweld, and my guy's a perfectionist. I suggested with the rear he didn't bother rebuilding the seam as the numberplate will cover it anyway and he looked very upset and said it wouldn't be perfect unless he did it properly.

Glad it's in safe hands, though!

Not really, no... but I got a grand bonus at work this month for doing nothing more than recommending a friend to join my company which totally pays for the work ;D

Popped in last night and took some pics of the welded and first-coat primered frame... considering how badly mangled the leg shields were and the extent of the rust at the back and in the floor, Dave's done an amazing job in two days.

Apparently the headset had been really roughly stripped with a file or something prior to painting before and he had to spend two hours on the headset alone trying to smooth everything properly annoying, as I had an original untouched headset sitting here, and figured the one I gave him was in a better condition.

First of all, this colour is notoriously hard to show in photos. It looks at least 10 times better in real life, and the colours vary a bit between photos. It also looks completely different in sunlight to shade!

First of all... where the colour comes from.... Volkswagen 1967 Sea Blue (Seeblau) L360.



And here are various different shots! The paint is absolutely stunning - truly a showroom finish. What with the welding etc, Dave's done a spectacular job.




The texture underneath is due to a layer of stonechip between the metal and the paint.

















And this is her home for the imminent future...!

Really? It came off the scoot's original engine (1975 V90), I thought the small spigot was only the first few years? Though I'll admit I haven't tried it on my PK cases... oh well. No big loss, and didn't cost me any more to get done

Very nice jimmy...make sure you don't scratch that beautiful paint when you rebuild...and make sure you touch up the edges of holes when you drill for runners etc. did you get any of the paint for touch up?
