So, first dilemma.
The leg shield beading is pretty knackered. Rusty, paint on it etc. Do I remove and replace with better looking rubber edging or leave original?

I would leave it as is, the whole scoot that is until you are ready to do all the jobs. Its a bit like a scab to excuse the metaphor, once you start... I'd buy some more of the old lady blue gloss and give it all another coating, I'm sure there was a thread on here a while back with a scoot someone had painted blue all over

I have a new front badge, new hexagon logo badge and new horn arriving tomorrow, as well as new cables and bits for the points (and nickj has an HT coil for me). Going to start cleaning it and removing paint from places it shoudn't be eg. the chrome beading this weekend, weather permitting. Also will put on a new seat (as this one looks like it could do serious damage to me nads....) And then hopefully it'll be ready to ride - and yep Ben ready for Vespa World Days! Think i'll swap between the PK and the V90 depending on where the ride-outs are headed.

Nice one Jimmy.
It looks like that paint could come off easily with thinner or stripper. I mean the whole scoot. I would give it a shot.

Not that its mine but if it were I'd try the preservation route and get an aerosol of paint in the original colour made up by Morelli or someone. Then clean out the worst areas with a tiny cleaning dremmel head or suchlike and touch them back up with a little u/c and top - like a picture restorer would. I think thats what the German O'lac crew might do but its your scoot Jim... Im sure it will be fine whatever.

I'd treat it like you'd ripped your favourite pair of Levi's. Celebrate the fact and either Copydex an off-cut of denim inside the offending area or go the full on Alan Partridge at a Funeral style and sew a great big fuckin' Castrol GTX patch over the top.

Well look at that, the sun came out ;D Spent the morning rebuilding the carb - then when it cleared up outside I went out, attached the coil nickj dropped round yesterday (Thanks Nick!), siphoned some fuel from my PK, checked the points gap and kicked her over. Started first time after 12 years in a barn!! No, of course it didn't. About 50 kicks later we were good So it runs. Evenly and confidently. But clutch has seized completely and the clutch cover's under an inch of filth... so that's a mucky job for next weekend. Also, compared to my PK which is tight as anything and needs a good hard kick to turn over, I can start the scoot by pushing the kickstart with my hand! I dunno what the compression of a Vespa 90 with points ignition is supposed to feel like but this is certainly on the... relaxed side. Anyway. Here's a movie of the scoot... and what happens when it's put in gear Oh and... new (NOS) seat. This one less likely to sever testicles.

Just to add.... walked over to the scoot just now which has sat in the cold for 24+ hours now, kicked it over gently and it just started first time!
No choke or easing throttle or anything!

That was one very seized clutch. Had to prise the plates apart with a knife. The hard part was scraping off the 5mm thick solid layer of mud and filth that was all over the engine. Didn't want to get any muck in the engine so had to clean the cover first. And now, may I present... another helmet cam video ;D

Your cush drive springs are shot or have popped out of the primary. Either way you're looking at an engine split and cush drive repair. Sorry...
