Today I've ordered the rest (hopefully) of parts for my custom headlight, and also a taillight that might work. Lets see how well they reflect the Lambo style... ;-) (And NO, I won't show pictures of these special features yet...) not sure i like these clues to keep us in suspense..........show us the pictures! ;D

Its Xmas time.... Well, almost! Got a load of goodies in the post today! ...the TIG welder arrived with UPS, complemented with a package from SIP including... Grimeca disc & V50 conversion fork... Grimeca backside... After the unpacking & celebration, I finally got some quality time together with Ferdinand outside! ...brushing off rust & paint... ...only the rest of the body to go! ;D Got a surprise visit from Svint1 (for those of you who know him), so I didn't manage to get as far as I planned today, but hey, at least I got to talk about Vespas the whole evening! It's going to take a while before I start TIG'ing, I need to get all gear (mask, gas, TIG thread etc.) in place as well as PRACTICE... The TIG is a longterm investment, don't intend doing much work on Ferdinand with it yet, only welding holes & give the hydraulic brake a go. So we'll see how things evolve! (And things TEND to evolve... )

Nah, let it all go a lovely rust-brown, and then lacquer it! Seriously, that's alot of rather fun-looking parts right there... Where you going to be putting the brake cylinder, then?
And a question for UK folks while we're on the topic of SIP, sorry for the thread hijacking Turbojeger, how badly hit do we get on import tax?
EDIT - I just saw the brake lever with cylinder attached. Silly me! ;D

Olimonster: Import to Norway is +25% VAT, no extra taxes. Yeah, you saw the handleveler in the picture? Going the way Swallow did in his antranzite scoot... Willspeed: Hehe... what am I going to do with the arancio color then!?!? ;D Stehughes: Can't wait to test the FULL hydraulic system... :-)

While yer'all where out drinking, since its Friday and all, I have been a good guy, being busy in the garage: ;D Got a bit further on removing the paint from the chassis... and got to dryfit the new SIP conversion fork together with mudguard. The holes in the mudguard must be repositioned, am not sure whether I need to modify the fork for better alignment? Anyone, hints & experience is requested! :-) The distance between the horn cast and the mudguard is 1-2cm off, way ugly... Definetly needs to be fixed! Is this normal? This is how it should look. Either moving horncast down a cm, or adding a lip on the horncast could fix this. Recommendations? Courtesy of SIP: this GREEN fella kept me company when I was in the garage. Since we don't have green spiders in Norway, I'm tempted to think it followed the Vespa parts from Germany... ;D ;D ;D

It would have been easier if you had a fiberglass 90ss mudguard, it only needs the hole at the top widened a little and it goes straight in as its wider than the v range mudguards. However with the 50 special although doable is more a pain in the backside. You will still need to widened the hole but you will have issues with the bitubo stopping the mudguard sitting right. You will need to use spacers. I've never done it myself as I couldn't be bothered with the hassle. On both my 50 special and primmy I have used the 90ss ones and didn't take me long to fit them. ;D

F**k!!! I just discovered that I will need to lower the PK front 18mm to get a decent ride height (not chopper style)... So thats wassup with your ride height, Swallow! Scooter and Service has some mods available for the Malossi RS24: shop.strato.de/epages/61438057.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/61438057/Products/SS002233A DIY kit is available for approx 60 euros, and a mod damper would set you back 300 euros... I don't think Sugarlump is going to recommend the DIY kit, after revisiting his scooter thread... ;D F**k, this hydraulic conversion is going to cost me a bit more than expected...

Here you go.As for the hight, just by mounting the top bracket upside down, you'll lower the front end. There are other mods you can do but those are secret. ;D

Here is my front end: I have only put the top mounting bracket upside down and as you can see is lower than swallow's. You could make it lower but as I've said is a secret... ;D

You both ride Bitubos.
Is there any difference in length when you compare Malossi RS24 and the Bitubo?
I'm not sure what to ride on Ferdinand yet, only have Bitubo for V50, not for PK front.

I'm loving this topic. Very interesting. Maybe a silly question, but will the frame not get some surface rust whilst its waiting to be painted? Would this not mean cleaning up all over again?

Not a silly question at all...
When I've completed the paint removal, the chassis will get a protective layer of etch primer. ;D

I'm not to sure about the lenght of the RS24 as I've never measured one. Maybe sugarlump can take some measurement off his (RS24) so we can compare. ;D
