Hello there! Just went to Bergen to collect an ordinary gearbox (Thanks, Unreliablesc!), so by the looks of it now I might be able to finish the engine!? Trouble now is time... I'm in the middle of different home improvement projects which consumes most of my spare time. Regarding lights, you still have to wait... haven't decided yet which way to go. LED is tempting... :-) LED would look pretty good, personally i would have them in the actual frame or something simillar, but its your project lol. Cant wait to see what you do with them and the front light Tony

Thinking the same as you Tony, we'll see. I've got plenty of options.
But with this pace I'm lucky if the scooter is running next season... ;-)
BTW. Tested the gears now, seems OK. Only one thing: The Zirri 4th gear is thinner in the mid section, which means I need to use several shims to align the gearbox.
Any thoughts on this? The original 4th is flat in the mid section, whereas the Zirri one is indented. OK to shim?

Yes. Get yourself an early P-range shoulderring (2.2mm or so if memory serves me right), fit that one and then the smally/late P-Range shoulderring to get the play of the gears right.

Thanks Amazombi. Might just use several shims, got them already.

Quick update. Got the fork and some minor parts primed. Next up will be the actual paint of all the graphite colored parts. My best option here for acceptable result is to set up a party tent... I don't have any other good places to spray this. Where is the double garage I don't have when you need it?!

Well, it is probably time for an update on the Ferdinand project... ;-) (It's only been a bloody year or so since last update...) As you've all might have noticed, the smallframe project hasn't been on my priority list for some time. I've also been busy with family stuff and home improvement stuff, as well as other scooters... (Bought a Vespa 200 Rally last year, my daily driver, and bought a SX200 Lammy in bits a couple of weeks ago. And uh, also been fixing and selling a mint PK50XL2). All of these can be read about on turbojeger.blogspot.com, "my projects". But as soon as I can find a decent way to spray some coats of lacquer, there might be some progress! Anyway, along with some parts for the Lambretta I got this for Ferdinand: The original idea was only to have a Koso tacho with no speedo, but this should be a better fit.

Not forgotten, just not totally prioritized... ;-) A bit too much to do with 7 scooters...

Smallyshane,
thanks for info, I'll keep a note of that.
Sounds like you have been a bit unlucky (hopefully, else SIP has a huge problem...).
What I've heard earlier is that you need some competence on electrics for connecting and setting the thing up, and also that the fit (vespa clamshell version + lambretta version, tight fit) is not too good.

I would say the electrics are simple enough like.. theres only 3 wires really.. more of a pain cos you should run them to the junction box. clamshell is stupidly tight. especially if you have a braided hose running through there too...
