evening all, no real update - hoping to have most of the engine together by this weekend. I have ordered the "big bertha" and a 34mm VHSB - im hoping they will turn up next week sometime.
Based on what I have done and the parts im planning on using would anyone be able to give me some kind of indication as to when my engine will peak in power, what rev's? Im assuming it will be very dependant on how I tune it but anyone with any experience - do you have any thoughts?

Your right mate with regards to state of tune I have the LC W Force with 30mm VHSH making which was 29bhp @ 9000. I have fettled it a little for this year and needs the carb dialling in because I ran it very rich last year. Its great on the road to be honest very rideable as long as you don't whack the throttle open. I also have the old SP09 with Big Bertha to build again which will be purely a sprinter because it was an evil bastard to ride on the road.

Thanks Tango, I think I have also read an SP09 making its full power @ 9500rpm. What does your LC W Force rev to? and what crank are you running in it?

I have put my dyno on here somewhere briggsy mine revs out to 12500 it was 24bhp @ 11500. To be honest though dyno's can be miles out so I always take them tongue in cheek. When you ride them you learn more and more and know when its a quick road bike or not. The difference is when you think yours is quick and then put it against Mr Obriens or Mr Murray's but how good there's would be on the road not sure. So really its finding a happy medium as to what you want fast road scooter or balls out sprinter/racer. Sorry I digress.

Don't measure the EGT because I've got the temperature gauge for the LC which has been spot on temperature wise.

Cars are usually set to run at 89° C, with twostrokes you should be going for quite a bit less, 55-60 more like.

Mine runs at between 60 & 75, upper level when the weathers really hot or im wragging it to death. I do run it with a blanking plate to reduce or increase airflow. Only time it hit the 90s was when the charging system failed and the battery ran low, I thought the water pump had packed in.

The "official" kart way is to run an engine and the downjet untill it seizes. The EGT minus a bit this happened at is then considered the red line.
Impossible to say really. It does depend on position of the probe, engine layout (the probe also gets cooled by fresh charge escaping out of the exhaust port) and a few other things which are to specific to make a general rule out of them. Expect temperatures around 600, give or take 100, though.

Right or wrong my egt probe is about 100 mm from centre of cylinder and on a 30 mm carb ran about 400/500'put a 35 mm carb on and it running at least 100 lower. I know it's rich on the main jet and definitely cools down when you full throttle it
