Hi. Got a PK50XL with 115( i think) Malossi kit, Polloni exhaust, matched ports, polished exh outlet(apparently).
Been told it could do with a bigger carb. Looking on beedspeed, am i right in thinking that the card i need is a Dellorto 19.19E SHBC with a 23.1mm connector?
Also, if this is right will i need to buy a new manifold for it and what size will i need.
I am aware that i have to check wether it is a 2 or 3 stud fitting.

yeah thats the one, 19/19. you will need a bigger manifold, i expect it will be the 2 stud, think the 3 studs were only on the XL125 & ETS engines (and possibly the 50cc XL2's?). you'd better check first!

The carb will fit, but not the manifold, even if your's a 2 bolt. Why not buy a new carb kit, the SHB kits are pretty cheap.

Our Norwegian friend means the routing of the manifolds are differant between the V/Primmy frames and the PK ones.
TBH,if you're going for a new carb set up I'd look at the 20 mm job from SIP although I can't remember if it was for a V or PK frame.

ok. been on sip site and have come up with the following:
Carb kit 20mm Malossi PK art no-16108040 (Will my existing air filter fit?)
Carb kit 25mm Malossi for 112cc direct manifold reed valve. art no-16107120 ( will i need to buy anything else?)
Which one will be the better 1?
Money no object really

as you have matched ports etc. you might as well go for the direct inducted 25mm reed.
(my opinion, others may differ)
If you don't have the direct inducted malossi, go for a rotary 20mm (you don't have to port the inlet etc.).
you asked about jets in one of your posts... I built a Polini 105/polini left/24mm reed motor once The carb came jetted spot on out of the box, don't know how lucky you will be...

OK. I have decided on the carb kit 25mm Malossi for 112cc direct manifold reed valve. I can see the picture has the air filter and the carb in it...... will i require anything else to proceed with fitting and is it a job for a novice(me)?

You'll need a full circle crank if you're going that way as it turns it from a rotary valve into piston ported.

AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Why can't anything be simple. Defo do not want to be forking out for a new crank and then having it off the road whilst it' being fitted so it looks like it's going to be the 20mm Malossi. Will this be do'able by me?

Just looked at SIP and the 20mm carb is for 3 bolt manifolds,if your cases are these then no problem. If you've got 2 bolt cases I'd look at a 19/19 and suitable manifold again or better still a 24 kit.

you need to check whether its 2 or 3 hole manifold first, before you decide. I'd go for the 20mm Malossi kit (16108040) if its 3, 19mm kit (J19623000 ) if its 2.
If youve got the std plastic filter, that should still fit. I'm running a 20mm carb with the Polini Racing air filter (20300190 ) and it seem to go well.

Have checked the manifold and it is a 3 hole item so am going to order the 20mm carb and racing filter.
I think i will pay someone to fit it too as it looks like i have to get the engine out to get to the manifold nuts.
Thanks for all the replies guys. I know that answering Q's from a novice can be a pain sometimes.
Ever thought of having a section on here outlining the best kit to buy, so that novices like me can go straight there and browse away?
Thanks again.

TBH I'd attempt to fit it myself if I were you, there's no substitute for experiance. It's not that hard really if you have the basic tools, even with the motor in in the frame, but it is fiddly. Ref. the kit etc. point it's not that simple, what's best for one isn't nessecarily best for another hence the amount of products and variations available. If it were we'd just list Polini blah,Malossi this,Pinasco/whatever that.

You'll need a full circle crank if you're going that way as it turns it from a rotary valve into piston ported. I always believed that you could use a std. crank with the direct inlet, but that it will benefit from a full circle. The reed is opened and closed by the pressure from the piston, and the full circle just helps to get the crankcase compression up... correct me if I'm wrong. I think i will pay someone to fit it too as it looks like i have to get the engine out to get to the manifold nuts. Tip of the day: When you have removed the old carb from the old manifold, lift up the rear end of your scooter and loosen the rear shock to lower the engine. that way you get a bit more air around the manifold bolts.
