Ash thanks, i got it right, i can go back to lying in the garden...!!
Anyone know anything about single seat fitments, I still would like two single seats, I noticed John with the red flying machine had one on then changed it, anyone know where to get the base plate to allow fitment...?

had a good and bad sort of day, slight scratch in the lacquer, slight tear in the seat (not good), need another new handle bar grip too. On the positive side, made great progress, all that needs doing now is headlamp fitment, all cable fitment, tank and carb and thats it. All electrics renewed and we finally coupled everything up and got a spark on the kick so thats a relief that the new stator and wiring is ok. Clutch, throttle, gear cables were a bitch to connect in the headset but you finally get there. Fitted back wheel before exhaust which is a no no, exhaust needs to go on first. All in all its looking and feeling exactly how i wanted, it looks retro in normal day conditions, just a nice cherry colour, but when the sun comes out it goes crazy.

Is that a bluewall at the back, or is your camera playing silly buggers?
Rest of the scoot looks gorgeous, by the way!

Rest of the scoot looks gorgeous, by the way! ha ha nah its just the protective wax the put on them to protect the white, it just washes off, its off now. Thanks for the kind words guys, the cables have me stumped though, just not sure how to tension them up correctly

I can remember asking about how to sort the cables myself, this is what I tend to do if I can't get my missus to help. For gears, gear selector (handle bar) in neutral, wrap tape around setting to hold in position. (Might be worth getting someone to hold it, I've had paint come off using the electrical tape) Gear changer (underneath engine) in neutral, tighten nipples, I use a "third hand tool" to get the cables tight. For clutch, push clutch arm as far forward as possible, hold in place with tie wrap etc. then tighten nipple. Front brake similiar to clutch, adjuster well in to start with. Don't forget to grease the cables well, don't know why but it seems to make an enormous difference. BTW I flip my scoot upside down so that I can connect the gear and clutch cables easier. I wouldn't even think about doing that to yours. Found this to be a good tip from JohnnySS once you've got the cable connected ;D Dont turn the ignition on, pull in the clutch lever and kick the motor over, the kickstart should just go straight down without turning the motor over. If it turns the motor over then screw out the adjuster till it doesn't with the clutch pulled in. Should be able to test ride it then knowing the clutch should disengaged when you pull the lever in when coming to a stop. Hope it goes OK

ah great choice, i wrestled with that myself, i love the off white / cream look., If i get another one im going to do it like that. ended up getting my italian mate from PANIS cafe in Newcastle (best italians in the north) to sort the cabling out tonight, he made everything look so easy, fitting and adjusting cables, clutch, carb etc, did a real good job for me, just need a few little bits and its ready for MOT soon, so maybe i should go sit that bloody CBT then..!!

Sounds good mate... and yes definately get the CBT done... you don't want to spoil the paintwork with 'L' plates do you! ;D I have a question about your scoot..... where, who and how did you have the legshield beading done? It looks like the original alloy beading that requires the special tool, is that the case or is it an after market one? Cheers Mike

Mike the original legshields were sprayed over and look ok as they were, see kevs davedaniel.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=projects&action=display&thread=2288&page=3I wasnt sure how the beading would look so i just bought some chrome plastic trim from sip, tell you what, its bloody good, a bit thinner than original stuff but pennies and it looks really good so i left it on, just formed it on the leg shield, cut it and job done, its not even stuck down yet with anything but it hasn't moved..!! Even Robbie who did my cables asked exactly the same thing you have, he said it looked bloody good for what it was, and the benefit is, if i get sick of it or it starts to look, shit, for the money, i will just whip it off and stick the rest on as the amount they sent was enough to do it twice..!! heres the link www.sip-scootershop.com/Products/90501000/Rubber+legshield+trim+w8mm.aspx
