Managed an hour in the garage on Thurday night! Removed headset & stripped it. Going to replace cables and wiring, head bearings, do disc mod and bung the lot back together. I hate bodywork so I'm not going to touch it yet. I'll concentrate on getting everything mechanically sorted for now.

I might change a few bits purely 'cos they look nicer, ie the PKXL horncast is nicer than the ETS one, as is the tail light...
I Dunno, what's everyone's opinion on this? It could end up looking like a bitsa, but then it's never stopped me in the past.

If you think something looks better go for it, unless it’s an ss or something

EtS is a poor mans SS90, i bet your scoot will get more attention if you keep it looking more original. start making it a bitsa then people will mistake it for annother PK. each to there own though buddy, afterall its up to you what you do to it.

Yeah, I'd want it to keep its identity as an ETS, but what defines it as an ETS? The stripes? The horncast? The headset? I think probably pick any two of the above and it's recognisable as an ETS...

Definately the headset and then the seat and exhaust from a visual perspective and the engine from a technical one.

This was the gearbox oil. Mind you, it'd been leaking for a while. No sealing washer on the drain plug, obviously, as that would have added 30 seconds and 30p onto the budget. (note any comments I make are in no way directed at the previous owner, as it has changed hands many times in its history). Shitty mess. Missing casing stud. Stand feet appear to be industrial dust caps glued and taped on, proper stand feet being so prohibitively expensive. Cables appear to be original. Amazing what people put up with. Mmm, nice overspray on everything! I'll be taking the hub, brake cam, kicker etc and bunging the rest in the loft (original engine, don'tcha know)... Not too bad underneath. Is it supposed to have a bulkhead on the spare wheel side, or was it open originally?

Nice to see things coming on Perkin. Yeah, it's about blinkin' time, but probably too late to get it done for this summer... I'm going to concentrate on getting it mechanically sorted (mainly 'cos I hate bodywork); I'll start with the running gear, steering, brakes, suspension then sort the electrics and stuff like the panel fit and seat latch to get everything working as it should. At least then I'll have a platform for the engine when it's done (probably back-endish)...

Seeing as I'm using the PX disc backplate and hub, do I use the PX front shock?
I hope so, as there seems to be a lot more choice...
Painted the fork with black gloss Hammerite and it looks quite good.

Actually, is the rear shock the same as a PX too?

px shock on front wont work it would be like riding a pk chop , and the bolts for the fork wont line up
the pk shock and px disc will need fettling to fit , i altered the holes on my bitubo to line up with the caliper carrier holes
but fook me a bitubo and disc is an arsy pain to fit !
