You should of seen it before it was painted and cleaned up a bit. It was done on a tight budget to get a new starter out on the road..! Still a cheap scooter Perkin.

Hi mate No worries, my opinion still stands that it's a solid, straight & honest machine. Speedo doesn't work, though! ;D

In the absence of any actual progress with the ETS, here's some gratuitous pics of the stuff I've accumulated so far! Falc kit Vespatronic ignition- comes with a flywheel puller, which is a bonus! HZ exhaust, thanks Ash! (all photographed in the loft)

I agree with Max... But if that is "ALL" the stuff he has acumulated max, he won't be going far Where be the piston I'm sure it will be there somewhere though ;D And I'm more than sure you will put it to good use and enjoy it considerably mate.

I actually did a job on it, today! OK, a bodge, but hopefully a semi-permanent one... I araldited a couple of tiewrap anchors to the inside of the HST roughly in line with the screw holes- I can now attach it with a tiewrap (remembering to carry around some cutters and a few spare tiewraps in case I need to get access ) Got a couple of these to wind up fundamentalists of any flavour:

Managed to get a fair chunk of time in the garage today. Thought I'd investigate the air leak but spent pretty much the whole time cleaning the engine. Forgot what a bastard it was getting the cylinder cowl off! Usual shit wiring. PVC tape, exposed conductor. Nice overspray on shock. Anyway, I got it all back together, but I didn't get chance to look at the flywheel oil seal and now it won't start 'cos all the electrics are wet...

Replaced all those bodged connectors, wrapped some spiral binding around & replaced plug & cap. Looks better, but still doesn't start!
Oh well, I'll have a proper go next week. I have a spark so not much wrong.

The problem is I get a couple of hours to fiddle with it, every Friday (the only kid-free day, apart from the baby of course! ), so it's difficult not to get demoralised. Still, once the building work is finished & I get my (much reduced) garage back, I can at least do a bit in the evening...

Well, it runs; I've had a go on it recently and it's Ok.
Tbh I think the engine is just very tired, with 32000+ miles on the clock...
It matters not, I'll be able to start on the new engine soon.
;D

The ETS and PK headset bottoms are definitely different. Hope I can still use my m/cyl modified PK one with a proper ETS top...
Mind you, at least a standard PK top would be easy to get hold of... wouldn't it?
Might start pulling the front end apart, soon. Now, what shocks are currently available? Is it still cheap shit or Bitubo and nothing in between?
