10 14 17 20 is a DRT Runner (Compatible with Standard Gears) 10 14 16 18 ? similar to a Matrix but a Matrix is 10 13 16 18 (Im Guessing, NOT compatible with Standard 4th Gear) 10 14 17 19 is a Sincro which is what mine is (NOT compatible with Standard 4th Gear)
Ask Dennis to be sure though Iain

Standard loose are 58/54/50/46 So the new cluster isnt a runner then? The runner is the only cluster that matches all standard gears all others use a 47

Whats the amount of teeth on the F1 tree?

Ah the F1 tree they suggested was the matrix 2014 10/14/16/18 That's not going to work is it or can I change the 46 4th gear for a 47? Or am I better to just get a runner F1 version? (If they do that?)

Yeh they do an F1 tree that works with the 46 4th gear, think its 20_18_14_10 cant be arsed to go downstairs to check lol,he's done it with a 40euro discount for me too, what a nice chap, hopefully sending me some DRT stickers too :-) Good luck sip selling all those trees that aren't F1.

Got it today, lovely, much more beefed up teeth, it came with a gasket kit and seals although the crank seals are for a standard et3 so won't fit but its a nice thought. Got loads of Gearflame DRT stickers and he sent a disclock free too, what a nice chap! Grazie mille Denis I can get it back together now once Ive sorted the shimming that's recommended (shims included)

Been at it today at last, sorted the shimming of the clutch primary bearing and rear hub, clutch bearing has a custom shim and circlip now and there is absolutely no play whatsoever. Fitted my DRT springs to my 29/68 primaries and rebuilt it in the motor, now to spend some time shimming the tree up the gears probably tomorrow now :-)

Bloody hell its tight in there, instructions say fit the 0.3mm shim behind the hub bearing from the supplied shims, hmmm there isn't one lol, 2x 0.47 (.5mm) if we are rounding off and a 1mm shim, even with the 1mm shim in there, still no clearance between 1st loose gear and 2nd cluster gear which should be 0.5mm at the least. Instructions say reduce 1st gear thickness on one face only by 0.5mm which luckily Ive been able to arrange with my mate as he has a lathe so that's my next step. The thing is I know someone on here who has the same component and we've compared notes, and they are not the same lol!! One thing I can do is move the shim on the clutch bearing to the other side or fit 2 shims one either side, all trial and error

why not just fucking make it so it doesnt need to be shimmed, its a lot of hassle. i take it the gears are cut further up the tree, and you making the layshaft go further out the rear of the motor with the bearing shim, this in turn makes you have to shimm the tree and quadrant to compensate, then you have to get gears lathed down, is this just to fit the f1 runner tree cos if it is its one hell of a fucking polaver, and i think ill just try to find myself a 48t 4th gear why did you need a shim on the primary basket ? i dont recall having any play on mine

yes its a bit of a ballache, it may look like everything is tight but if you tap the bearing towards taking it out side with the retaining circlip in place I bet you can get a feeler gauge of some thickness in there so there is a need to shim it, to stop any lateral movement in the case, I know what you mean about why not make it so you dont have to piss about shimming but, when you think about it theres lots of movement in a standard box and its components but thats ok for 6bhp not 36, everything has to have as little movement as possible in the wrong direction and retain as much power going through it smoothly to not loose any before it gets to the back wheel. I reckon drt spaced the tree gears with all this in mind knowing where most cases have the room to shim :-)

Motor back together, well happy really as even stripping a freshly built motor to fit the F1 tree I found a couple of things out that could have been disasterous. I found in the intake hole(origional case intake)after removing crank a piece of twisted solder, must have snapped off when I was measuring squish and didnt notice DOH! One of my clutch plate lugs had bent and nearly snapped off and when I was refitting the clutch nut I went to fit a brand new M11 machined nut never out of the bag from sip, the threads are shit and thats why I have cross threaded my old tree and needed to use half a hub etc to stop the tree turning, thank fuck I realised and put the supplied DRT nut on which spun on no bother and torqued up 70lbs with only the 2p locking the primaries, a brand new nut manufactured in Germany tut tut its just a thread for fucks sake I wonder whos making those for them?

lucky catch on the solder ,must of been manufactured nut outside kraut land as there engineering is usually spot on ,still shouldnt of made it through quality control tho, hope ya sent sip a shitty e mail askin for compensation for the damage there part caused ,you wont get any but they might be more careful in future .seems there big enuff not to care so much nowadays ,an there quality has gone down , H

why not just fucking make it so it doesnt need to be shimmed, e No kidding! I went through this with denis and the F1 and was shocked at the work I had to do.. Milling the face of 1st gear included.. There's a whole page of mods that need to be done... I can laugh now, but I wasn't laughing when I went all iver town to 4 different machine shops trying to get the thing shaved down.. And LA is a big town! :/ One thing that jumped out to me and I was like WTF? Is that the spacing of the cogs on the F1 runner are spaced differently than the standard Runner.. Arrggghhh. It all worked out in the end, and I'm sure it's for the best but what an ass munch of a process. Sorry Iain for barging into your beautiful thread and venting all over it!

Thats ok Chris :-) Anyway, a few pics of the trailer now its finished, tows really good too :-) I had to raise the front at the tow bar as the new suspension raised it at the rear so I cut the box section away and lowered the hitch part by redrilling the holes through another box section inside the middle section its welded to to lift it :-)
