I think you'll need more than a clipper lighter and a box of swan vesta though Jonny

Been working on the beast all day, finished exhaust completely put a new slimmer rubber mount on the endcan and coated it all in that AF50 stuff looks good, changed stand to other side, fitted XL2 clutch cover and spacer kit from MH style Germany inc hub backplate 1.5mm, Fitted new vespatronic, just need to wire up, tighten hub, fitted new inner gear cables, still to fit intake manifold and carb and cowls, fill with oil, hopefully be ready for the mile event at Elvington, oh yes that reminds me get that 350x10 tyre fitted to a sip rim and get it to fit cases etc :-) oh yes ground the shit out of the kickstart too so it doesnt touch exhaust :-)

Actually we have just been looking at the event at Elvington for the mile run, we think it isnt really best I try it out there as it looks more a family day, lots more than just bikes and scooters so we might just spectate there and I'll take it to East Kirkby or somewhere to try it out as I just want to test things for now and then take it to the scooter shootout in September, takes the pressure off and gives me time to get some proper leathers too :-)

Bit of an update, I fitted the xl2 cover and the clutch is now nearly a one finger job to pull the lever in, well happy with it :-) that's with Hartz 4 with 10 springs Oh yeh going to add more stickers to it now so it doesn't look too bland :-) got some plans to make a collapsible trailer aswell

That hartz clutch must be good as the lever is a country mile away from the cover,eh? Sounds fookin great as well. Good luck when you get it back down the track What I like about it is ,any motorbike rider/racer would think what the fook is that ,never guess it was Vespa smallframe powered.

Lol yes Nick the clutch is good, its not particularly long just a lot thicker and its toothed mechanism inside rather than levered bush. You hit the nail on the head with that description of what the fuck is this haha, Im really pleased with it and cant wait to have another ride on it ;-)

Ok Ive just dropped the motor out to strip n change the drt tree, just a quick question, Im going to swap the primaries for 29/68, will the drt primary cogs I have for the 27/69 cogs work with these or do you have to get primary crank cogs that only match because they are a different pitch, cheers

Post by jonnysnatchsniffer on Jun 27, 2014 20:09:46 GMT
no they are not compatible, you can get different crank cogs to go with the 68, there is also a rovigo 1st gear that will make 1st a little taller and the box a little closer, and lessen the chance of wheelie city, you gonna go for the miler ? 11000 rpm may get you close to the ton

Cheers Johnny, just wondered but thought as you say, will be trying the half mile I think with 29/68 and 350 x 10 tyre would standard tree not be strong enough? Id get better top speed with that wouldnt I?
