It's been freezing out in the garage but braved the cold to try and get things moving again Bit more fettling of the headset and made up some aluminium packers to account for the misfit of the bracket and drilled out some m6 penny washers to suit the m7 fixings With a healthy splodge of Loctite the brackets on and solid as a solid thing now. It was cheaper to buy 2 titanium M7 bolts than a bag of 50 I'd only use 2 of. Reach on the lever is spot on too so happy days (for now till the next drama).

Decided to go for an internal quick action throttle and looking around it was between the CMD on and the MRP one. The CMD one was about 10 euros cheaper so went for that. When it turned up it looks to be 3D printed. I was expecting machined Delrin or something similar. It looks like polystyrene. Time will tell how durable it is and whether I've made the wrong choice I guess. I liked that you can clamp the cable straight onto the wheel without needing a trunion.
Fitted ok with the spring washer and plain shim though the throttle stop (the bit that's number 6 on the diagram below) rubs on the inside on the headset making it drag a little. I think it'll probably ease up pretty quickly as the plastic wears away a bit.
Thought I'd include the instructions (german only) and the translation in case someone else decides to buy one...
"Your new sloth is almost "ready to use". But to get him started, you should get to know him better.
Your new sloth has only one stop for zero position and full throttle (6). Depending on the structure of your steering head, you must omit the washer. The corrugated washer rests in the recess (4) provided on the sloth. The securing pin fits as in the bore at the (5) stub. If you want to stick the stumbling, then only at the rounded (3). It also stops without it is glued.
Before you pull the throttle cable (7), you have to loosen the safety screw (1) somewhat. The train you can then in the saving (2) short.
So, and now we wish you a lot of spab and always a good as well as safe ride."
God knows what spab is though lol

i have a hunch that Spab is a bit like unobtainium

After a couple of months searching I finally found a flywheel puller that would fit the flywheel. It is supposedly the same size as another one I bought but bizarrely this one fits (genuine parmakit) and the other doesn't. So popped flywheel off and was relieved to find that the catching noise went away so I don't have to split the cases. After much faffing around and refitting the flywheel several times it turned out to be the penny washers holding the stator baseplate to the cases fouling the flywheel. If they are fitted off centre to the bolt they clear, if centred they rub. What a bastard, engine has been sitting half assembled since November while I found an extractor to fit and Sussex the problem. Back on with the build now, maybe it will see the road this summer after all...

Decided to save the w force engine for another project I've got on the go and bought davet's malossi engine so I could get this on the road this summer. Initially had slight clearance issue between exhaust manifold and shock but very slightly relieved the manifold to clear. No more than a very slight flattening of the pipe was needed in the end.

Engine and and shes up on one wheel at last! It's as tight a gnats chuff clearance wise in the small door frame and so no hope of door fitting so trying to 'train' the frame courtesy of a screwdriver jammed between frame and fan cover and heat cycling with a hair dryer. No idea if it'll work but thought I'd give it a go as want to run with the door and just springs back if you try and pull it out

Forgot to add it may be difficult to get to the exhaust spring from the engine door side. You'll need a long spring puller to get at it.

Bit more progress tonight, all electrics are going to be inside the frame so routed HT lead Bit more work on the CDI and Wassell mount, almost there with that now, has taken a lot longer than I thought due to it being so tight in there. Battery coming tomorrow so can make a start on the battery box

Hi Dave, now way I can get to anything from that side of the scooter, getting to the plug takes some doing! Hopefully it's doable from other side, haven't tried it yet?
