Good ploy H, I've found giving the chocolate after they've done it is best. Before gives them a sugar rush and they might go all crazy bird crazy before setting up your account.
On a serious note, have you ever tried spraying metal flake?

yes , an the nightmares still come some nights , not so much the finished job as wandering round brighton for 2 weeks with enough glitter in my hair to look like a "fairy disco queen" , got some "interesting" offers but not for more paint jobs exactly , serious , its hard to get a even distribution of flake , careful measuring ,double the stirring/mixing , an shaking up the gun between passes to stop flake settling out as ya spray , thats what i worked out ,but to be honest the job was only 80% at best/kindest , an that stuffs not cheap an i had to buy twice as first lot went on practice panels mostly .not sure if my methods same as pro's 1 ,as some real good pro's use the settling of flakes to get a graded finish ,fading from light to heavyer or vice/versa from top to bottom or on curves/panels . tho that might be done at polishing stage ,as when painted flake dont glitter much, when paints cut/compounded back thats when flakes exposed n catches the light .have a friend ,little-tone, a custom painter on the vw scene an will ask him more nxt time he's in pub , suggest you look round your manor for a helpful local lad/painter n buy him a pint or 2 . as honestly i'm a middling painter at best , H

Don't think I would try metal flake tbh, getting an even coat with candy is hard enough, though a pearl in the lacquer goes on easy enough. But, if your prep is good and you are prepared to take your time I reckon it could be done. Do you need a wider nozzle for the flake Henri?

i used same set as i'd done base in , might of been my problem , as said earlier i'm a middling painter at best , every go i get a bit better but still nowhere near good enuff , the metalflake i did spray was on a triumph tank ,an a mate reckoned the amount i used could of done a whole car bonnet, i wasted so much n its not cheap, but as triffid says ,sort off, preps 85% ,cleanliness 10% an the gun/sprayer 5% , tho you try spraying at my dads ,under the flight path for special forces chinook pilots , 1 of them babys goes over at 100ft n dust comes out of everywhere , still wonder if the pilot/door gunner saw the nut in a respirater n paint suit dancin round a front garden throwin rocks n naughty words , pops made me go apoligise to neighbours , H

Sadly no crazy mofo flake job, going for orange again with my next build and was thinking of doing the et3 stripes in a prism flake (small flakes) bright blue.
I know.....I've had a couple of sleeps since then and come to my senses. It's the heat here in Bangkok.

reconsider , ive a secret plan/dream to do pinstripes in flip paint , reckon that will look sweet , tho dont "do" orange myself personally , an more than 25 degrees not only makes painting really hard/impossible ,but can also make the "ladyboys" attractive propositions , surely in bangkok you can score a cheap paint job , even if scoots in blighty the postage there n backs got to be less than a pro metal flake job here , tho ya chances of gettin it back to blighty unscratched i dont reckon ,H

Couldn't live here, on shopping holiday with missus. Been coming here for 12 years and never seen a smally. But hundreds of lardies. They are used as pick up trucks for the material deliveries.
Like your idea of shadow lines. Been thinking that with two types of candy. I think custom paint design on smallies is difficult. I think I'll just go original Black stripes.

well i wasnt happy with wrong headset ,an couldnt get a 100% match for paint just to paint headset ,so matched glovebox door to a "chip" card at brighton auto-paints , me n 2 guys who work there reckon its a 99% match to avorrio 940 the original colour .but rather than buy 1/2 a litre n not be happy if its half a shade off bought a litre n re-painted the scoot finally the scoots all 1 colour n with right headset , an for first time ever i painted a gear tube n didnt get a run , the secret ,i used a 125ml gravity gun for the smaller stuff , H

Nice job H. That cover under the cardboard reminds me of an ex in the early eighties who made me a leopard skin fur spare wheel cover for my px. Now it would be highly collectible comedy mod tat.

Excellent, I'll travel down to Brighton on my smally to collect my commission. Obviously from now until then I'll search the charity shops for authentic leopard skin blankies, package them up and send them down to your seemstress!
