sprayed the flywheel cover n head shroud in heat resistant matt black , can nozzle was dripping so wore gloves an was careful not to drip on the chassis as i was lazy n hadnt carried out the shed , all went well til i pulled the latex gloves off an they snapped n flicked 2 drops of black paint onto the rear arch of the chassis , gutted, its barby paint an has a etch effect so ate into it immediately ,have to rub back n re-paint ,not so bad as the management (missus) had gone over it earlier an found a tiny run an another bit that needed a re-do, an me dad had got the mower out the drying/aging shed an managed to scratch the muddy ,so its worth hangin the tarps n mixing up some more paint ,2 steps forward 3 back , same ole same ole , god hates me but i just hate him right back, might explain my luck eh, if it werent for bad luck ive have no luck at all, H

Post by henri on Sept 8, 2014 18:28:22 GMT
it was a "total buggeration day" ,with a side order of "same shit different day"/"different shit same day" , not a happy bunny ,but crying wasnt a option an swearing wasnt helping, tho it did make me feel better , i hate painting ,its like getting a new helmet ,you treat it super careful as ya paranoid about scratching it ,which eventually happens ,then within a week ya throwing it down an using it like a football coz ya dont care anymore coz it looks like crap ,H

Attachment DeletedAttachment DeletedAttachment Deletedwell had the tool an the trim an thought best give it a go, with hints n links from tzsteve on here an not wanting to bottle out gave it a go, trial fit was fine ,secured it with bike inner tubes twisted up with hammer handles as per the manual tz linked for me , an got on with it ,had to stop n fettle the tool as first corner it caught the trim an marked it ,ground the sharp corner around the pin holding the nylon wheel that pivots off an rest went fine ,its a diff job an prob best attempted with a mate holding frame down as ya have to put a fair bit of ummph into the tool as ya slide it round . its looks fine cept for the top nearside corner where i caught it an put a pinhead sized dent/scratch in it , first thing my eyes go to everytime i look at scoot now ,glad i had a go ,an its staying but dont want to ever do another , H hints for anybody else . 1 ,get a good quality trim that fits well out the box or you'll never get it right. 2 ,buy/beg/steal/borrow a good quality trim tool ,as the cheapy ones like mine make it loads harder , 3 , 10 minutes in a bath of hot water softens the trim an makes job loads easier . 4 , get the ties ,inner tubes, tights, pads under ratchet straps on tight 5 , get a mate to help 6 ,if ya not sure an definite ya can do it DONT try ,pay somebody else ,at least that way if it goes wrong you can shout at them an whip em with mangled trim to within a inch of there life, then a foot beyond .

startin to feel like this scoot dont like me ,or i need a new brain , wired it up n fitted headset n cables all fine , managed to find a mph speedo cheap coz it had a scratched lens an swapped it an bezel for 1 i already had , went to fit the headlight n it wouldnt fit , DOH, realised i'd actually painted the wrong headset ,rob gave me 2 with scoot n i'd painted the 1 that was prepped already ,thinkin it was the spanish 1 ,double doh, its a primmy one ,will have to buy a rim/lense n bulb holder an use it for mot whilst i prep n paint an build the spanish 1 an swap em later , an also ive managed to mislay the throttle tube clip somewhere ,hopefully its with my v100 stuff in brighton , H

as the v100 went yesterday, got back on this one ,since last post i had it in my front room an didnt get down to it til i had a cold n couldnt go out, cabled up n wired up ,still with primmy headset , my paint factors cant match the avorio940 rob got ,an only guy who ive found who can wants £35 for a 1/4 litre of cellulose , thats what a usually pay for a litre ,an no guarantee it will match, am goin to a place with a reader n see what they can do, anyway last week got sick off looking at it with no progress an re-did the number plate an spare holder as i got a look at a original 1 to copy ,an threw it out back door an put a pint of fuel in an kicked , an kicked an kicked some more , pulled carb n checked pilot jet then swapped it anyway an tried again , still nowt ,had a "moment" an stuck 2 litres of fuel in so i could see it filling pipe n tried again ,3rd kick n brumm-brumm , it lives , an ive got to apologies for all the "greasy piella eating ,donkey botherer spic" insults/jokes ive been throwing at it , no tail n pilot light n brake light switch is a bit stick-onish , but mot-ready soon , well happy , H

well done with the trim. it`s a lot neater than mine and the colour looks classic

Post by henri on Mar 5, 2015 8:10:11 GMT
i was selective in the "camera angle" an pictures shown , in the flesh reckon yours is actually neater , its why ive always steered clear of doing ali trims ,i knew first 1-3 ones where i was learning the skill wouldnt be that good .an would bug me ,not bad enough to rip it off n get another 1 ,not at 50 quid a go anyway. an the colours growing on me ,at first look after spraying i nearly decided to change it , but quite like it now .thats if i can find a good match to spray the right headset i didnt spray first go round, major DOH!!!, moment .will mot n register it first probably ,when lights are sorted .i'm generally good at lectrics ,but after 10 re-wireing jobs on scoots have only had 1 where everything worked out the box.piaggio's daft 6volt unregulated AC system just "twists my melon" an offends my engineers soul. i think my trim was about half that price. a mate picked it up from from here as for the 6volt ac, yep it`s pretty bad
