Attachment Deletedome of you will instantly recognize this scoot , yes this vulture has swooped on another unfinished project ,an bought the bits spanish rob offered for sale on here .watch this space for progress ,but maybe not 1 for the tuners amongst you ,as rob has taken so much trouble getting the spanish particular bits to keep it original i'm going to keep it that way as much as possible , tho it will have to queue behind my v100/130 project for painting ,as rob had got the year colour paint ,a off-white ,so will get more practice in on other scoot an a more forgiving colour before attempting this 1 , Henri

there worse than large frames or bretta's ,you can fit more in the same space ,its cheaper than renting more garages/sheds ,well thats the excuse i told the management (missus) , so long as they dont stop me fixing her car n finishing her cut-down i should be ok ,that reminds me ,drivers windows broke again an dropped into door ,i'm suppose to be fixing it , not just taking the roof off an saying "its summer ya dont need a window" ,H

Attachment DeletedAttachment Deletedas i got stalled painting my v100 ,run out of paint n couldnt be arsed to get more ,i switched n flatted back an put primer on the spaniard , so there it is ,2 coats of primer on top an same over the stone chip underneath an in the wheel well that rob had applied , then 1500 wet/dry flat-back an another coat on top , ready for its first coat of top coat . have to borrow my mates "spraymate" for that as my compressor is gettin old n tired an struggles to keep a steady pressure up, an the spraymate system is fairly idiot-proof which i need as painting isnt my strongest point .have been able to get fair-good results with it in past on large frames ,but there easyier as panels come off making it simpler to spray the rear .need to get my sander going on the glovebox first as want to spray it all with 1 mix of paint as rob gave me a litre of ivory celly paint ,an dont think any more mixed paint will match exactly ,an the spraymate does use more paint up than my comp/gun .so need to get another 1/2-1 litre of same paint code an mix em half n half to be sure of all paint matching in shade . thats why i hate painting ,theres too much to think about an way too many ways to mess it up an have to do-over again . When I sprayed my lardy I managed to kink the airhose while applying the candy on the panels and splaterred all over one meaning I had to rub down and start again, meant I didn't has as much as I wanted and ended up with a salmon red instead of dep red (the missus calls it pink but it's salmon red, really

my best 1 is painting my super lardy an not realising i'd forgotten to paint the headset n gear change bar ,had just enuff rosso ford left to blow over the undercoats on headset but gearchange is still post box red undercoat,DOH!!. but ya have to be close, under 10 feet to notice it ,but its the first thing my eye is drawn to every time i see the scoot .roll on winter an its due a 2yearly re-spray ,an down a shade in red as rosso fords to light ,just was the piaggio paint code i had when trying to make my mind up about paint colour .H

Henri, I hope you are not working this thread up to the point of excusing yourself for daubing the thing with an old dustpan brush and a tin of 20 year old hammerite?!

nope ,its goin ivory ,just like ya planned ,saves me my usual month of sidling up to strangers at garage nxt to pub askin to look under bonnet for there paint code ,coz i like the colour of the car . or 3 hours at paint shop lookin at colour charts an tryin to make my mind up on 1. tho i have been liking the new fiat 500 colour range ,apart from the cream/coffee 1 that is, even there black looks better than other blacks . likin the "shed" rob , you sure you dont want to join my ideology ,"shedology" , was goin to start it as a religion but its more of a philosophy. 3 rules , 1 all are welcome ,2 stub fags in ashtray an no spittin on the floor ,3 never smoke near fresh paint . couldnt decide on the other commandments yet . Hello! Rule number 2 could technically be two rules in one becos stubbing out fags and spitting aren't associated activities. Otherwise however this 'new' religious philosophy of yours appears to be based on thoroughly common sense. Let's hope there arent any limitations that make themselves apparent further down the road. The last thing you want is some kind of Jonestown showdown. That said I'd still go with it for the meantime if I were you. I doubt though that because it apparently lacks historical, theoretical or actual proof (the three proofs of a valid philosophy described by Nichiren Daishonin) that Shedology will rid you of the severe case of Piaggioitis you're suffering from. Regardless I'd be happy to observe ceremonies.

rule 2 is fine ,took me ages as a nipper to learn the trick of spitting fag but out my mouth an putting it out with a second gob before it hits the floor ,sign of a well spent youfff were i was dragged up,an i aint got piaggiotis ,ive got shedittis with a side disorder of tuneittis due to smallies an the dremel nuts on here, aint going to limit myself to vespa's ,as after 2 years the painful memorys have almost gone an i almost fancy another lammie ,just for going to the shops on,off course . no progress to report on my 2 smalls this weekend ,just spent a weeks holiday welding the missus's car an other urgent jobs it needed ,thought i might get sum paint on today on the spaniard ,but the rain once again proves god hates me ,thats ok ,i just hate him right back,an when he finally grows a pair an zaps me with a lightning bolt i'm going to open them pearly gates with his face an take down the "no skateboarding/noisy scoots" sign an make him eat it.love to all,i'm off to take my meds an see if "nursey" will up the dose. Stopped believing in god a myriad moons ago henri! Decided to hedge my bets by appreciating a multitude of deities who are said to protect a person who takes faith in an all pervasively unifying universal law of cause and effect. Seems to work too! LOL but that's Buddhism for u ;-)

Attachment DeletedAttachment Deletedwent to pops from work a hour early an coz sun was out did some painting ,first coat of ivory on spaniard ,an v100 got its bottom painted after welding n seam sealing at lunch ,quite ok results from a old ailing compresser an a stuttering gun held by a non-stuttering idiot, def will use the spraymate for final topcoat tho, hopefully the rumour that god dont like mods/scooterists n me in particular will turn out false an it will be ok weather to get another coat on in morning an start on door/glovebox n headset n gearchange , have to say rob ,i know its the piaggio colour for the year ,but it comes out the gun lookin like kitten sick, more yellowy/clotted cream like ,does dry to ivory an its growing on me but i'd never of chosen it myself, then i'm never happy with the colours i do manage to pick ,an it will look different with the black floor runner inserts n rubbers an seat cover .have to wait n see whever i can live with it eh , that n decide what colour to do coachlines/speedblocks in ,either red (bit boring) or wedgewood blue coz ive got a load on shelf for car ,will spray my test panel (old car door skin) an see eh , H

Attachment DeletedAttachment Deletedseems god has got bored of messin with me ,as the sun shone all day an the spanish went ivory all over ,frame n headset n engine door right first go ,had to correct a run on muddy an a spot on gearchange an 2 on glovebox ,glovebox door fell off the rack after spraying an needed re-doing ,but quite happy with results from a 20 year old comp n gun, bit better than what ya feared rob, no hammerite n stiff brush , still not sure about the ivory tho, looks a bit "old english with a touch of jaundice" to me , nxt the fiddly bit ,building n not scratching , will leave paint to harden fully for 4-6 weeks an polish a couple of dullish spots first, give me time to get on with v100,H

Great! Glad to see some paint on it H. Colour sounds/looks perfect! Hope there was enough and my prepping was ok. What are you planning to do with the rear wheel carrier - same colour? Think you'll be right on about the black in the floor runners later but any thingother than ally trim on the leg shield and you won't like the ivory imho ;-) - the dry fit of it went well btw. I slid it on from the top, stood legs either side like I was riding it and pulled the sides on then worked out the detail. If you take your time you can easily do it. You need to work with the curve / spring of it. Colour choice was wife's - said it was a good colour on the resale market. Thought she made a good point as all the second hand vespas in ivory at that time ( maybe now too) were all for slightly more money. Perhaps not a great rule of thumb but tbh she's got an excellent record on being right about difficult choices like colour. Tan seat would be great too. Going to try n dig out the dating letter now...

was maybe going to do wheel carrier/front hub n stand in satin black as rubbers/seats going black, saw a ivory vbb on seafront sunday with black stuff an it looked lovely ,tho it did have ivory piping round seat that really worked ,all the smallies there were white ,keep lookin at the trim an reckon i'd cock it up, torn between thin 10mm vinyl black woven effect trim an thicker 20mm cream cloth effect type, like ive got on my red hack, reckon the black might be too strong tho an cream to un noticeble ,maybe see if i can borrow a trim tool an have a go,an use other trims as plan b ,there was enuff paint an ya prep was really good ,i hardly had to do anything to paint, just key the surface to get rid of hardened old-paint skin an de-bobble the primer , thanks, henri
