Haha was wondering if anyone was going to notice that. I also had a few custom pieces fabbed up for the frame too. Thought I might reveal them later. The rear light mounting was one of them. I can't take credit for the idea though. This was originally done by sugarlump on his ET3 Rat Resto build vespasmallframeforum.proboards.com/thread/1019/et3-rat-resto-round-2?page=2. Have to admit, that was the inspiration for the build. The light unit is a Lucas L549. I think they used to use them on VW Beetles. It does suit the frame incredibly well and being honest I never really liked the standard light on the smallframe anyway.

The light unit is a Lucas L549. I think they used to use them on VW Beetles. The lights were used on old Triumphs and the like, certainly it was used on the first series Spitfire and some TR's. Probably some other BMC stuff too like Austin Healys and MG's.

Cheers Juan, always wondered where they had been used. Saw a custom vw with them on a few years back but wasn't sure if it was a standard fitting. Thanks for the kind words 225worbLike you say the engine was a good runner, but was thrown together. It was a standard primi setup except with PK 12v electrics jammed in, a knackered polini exhaust and a very badly ported engine case. It looked like someone had gone at it with a hammer and chisel. Most of this work seemed to be done well over 10/20 years ago and as such was starting to knackered out. The cdi was failing and there was an oil leak around the kickstart too. It was a hell of a lot of fun to ride, but I decided to go for the full rebuild to keep it in continuity with the rest of the scoot. I rebuilt the engine about a year ago and I really regret not having taken more pictures at the time. In the end I stripped down the cases, had them vapour blasted and polished them up a bit. Then I sealed them with a 2K petrol resistant clear coat. I think this is just after the cases were sprayed. I also had a mate weld in a big chunk of Ali so I could sort the porting out. That was a lot of fun to dremel out and managed to get quite a good shape as a result. In the end every bearing and seal was replaced. I installed a racing crank, 12v Electric Parmakit, 24 Spring Clutch, Polini kit, new Polini pipe and a Polini CP 21mm Carb. The 21mm seemed the best option, despite being a high performance set up, I didn't want anything too lairy, but having a bit of poke available is always fun too. The bastard is going to be a nightmare to jet, and I'm sure I will be posting jetting questions nearer the time. I also replaced the engine mounts with a set of clauss Studio's Polyurethane engine mounts. I'm quite interested to see how this upgrade will affect the ride. Right now the finished engine has been taped up and put away. I need to get it out ready for the dry build. Only thing I need to sort is to reinstall the clutch again as I initially only used the 12 spring set up, but then changed my mind thinking I will need all 24 for the setup to work properly. Still loads to do, but getting there.

Nice work, got one of those plastic doors myself, the fit, if you could even attempt to call it that, is appealing. Not sure if it'd be any better thsn the standard slots but it looks as cool as you like.
