Im currently getting near the end of filling as sanding my 100 sport frame ready for it to be resprayed. Ive hear that fitting the wiring looms on smallframes can be a pain in the arse so am i better off fitting it before it gets resprayed? and is there any tips on fitting the wiring loom? One other question, the 100 sport uses an 8 pole ignition switch as it has a USA spec parking light my scooter didnt come with one, more like a box of bits! Is the ignition switch the same as an early PX one? I think they had less terminals but im sure i can leave off the parking light wires? Your advice will be repaid in beer (if i meet you)

I can't tell you anything about the wierd American spec. leccy system as I've never had a Sport.
I would recommend fitting the loom before paint though.Feed up from the rear to the front.I feed some fencing wire down from the front and tape it to that (what needs to come upto the headset anyway) then gently pull through although I expect most have their own method.

I find shouting, swearing, kicking anything apart from the scooter (tempting though it is) questioning loudly to no-one why the hell you ever bought the fucking thing in the first place and generally taking it out on the wife and kids helps MASSIVELY.
I'd definately do it prior to painting then if you are a less patient man than myself you can beat the shite out of it with the biggest hammer in the toolbox, knowing you have not wasted the money you spent painting it.
Other than that it's a straight forward job.

I helped a friend to assemble a Sprint once. We used a SIP-conversion loom.
He told me I shoved a completely unknown side of myself after fighting with the loom that would get stuck inside the tunnel no mater what for about 4 hours. ;D ;D

Beat it with a hammer ;D I wonder how many people lost it at the Piaggio factory when they put the looms in?
Thanks for the replies,i will have a go prior to getting it sprayed, wish me luck!!!!!

I forgot to add that your first attempt should be conducted in a padded room with no heavy, sharp or otherwise potentially destructive objects.
Other than that it's easier then getting a gaggle of Japanese schoolgirls to formation piss through the eye of a needle. ;D

I've actually had decent luck before with the wire loom. I pulled the cables out, all of them, outers included.. I pulled the rear brake pedal out. I ran a piece of clutch cable inner into the body and pulled it out under the tank so I had part of it out at the column and part out at the gas tank. I taped the loom to the cable at the column and slowly pulled it through the body. Once it was halfway into the body, I reached into the brake pedal hole in the frame to locate the loom where I wanted it. I then pulled it the rest of the way through the body. It took me about 15 minutes and not much swearing or throwing shit. That usually happens in the last portion of the build while doing the small shit that won't fit well due to paint and powder coating.

here is my method.. Feed old outer cable down empty frame. Attach one electrical 8amp or whatever wire. (just use side cuters to squeeze opem the outer about 6 coils up. feed wire through and bend back on itself). on the other end strip the wire back and solder to the new loom. (i usually make these so have bare ends to solder to). And then draw it through... easy.
