I welded threaded axels to the bearings to get a "puller". Sorry bout my bad english, you get the point from the picture. Machine shop probably has right tools. Dont know about the x-tree, mine came out nicely. (Edited as imageshack pic didnt work-Guy)

i just tapped the other side of the casing with a rubber mallet and the xmas tree fell out ;D, you could try heating up the casing around it. if you put the casing into the the oven, the other bearings will fall out (clean it first or do it when the wife is out )

Case in the oven works for me.And you've the added bonus she pranged the car so you don't even need to go on stealthy,night-time manouvers. ;D

After heating do you need to hook them out with something?
Next door neighbour was wincing as I "tapped" the crank out of the flywheel side casing with a lump hammer. Came out lovely though!
His old fella had a pop at him too for "letting me cut through the cylinder and con-rod" to allow me to split my seized engine

hopefully they should fall out! different metals, different expansion rates.
when you put the new bearings in, make sure that you heat the casings, not the bearings (which should have been in the freezer first ;D)

Hmmm, no joy so far.
Tried hearting up the case with a blowtorch, the xmas tree got loose, but wouldn't come out.
Anything else I should be doing?

GOTCHA YOU BASTARD!!!!!!! ;D
Tried blowtorch (several times) Oven (when wife was out shopping, and no use whatsoever.
In the end I threaded a nut on the end and used brute force, ignorance and a pair of molegrips!
the bearing even stayed in the case so I don't need to split it (it's going in a different case.
