hi guys out on my px 125(malossi 166) yesterday doing about 60mph on the motorway and the f*cker heat seized .. just wondering what any of you think could have caused it ... set up ...malossi 166 no porting just bolted on ,20/20 carb 112 main jet, simonini exhaust pilot jet out 1.5 turns. scoot was going great till this happened ...stupid question i never had any side panels on would this have made a difference. i used to run it with a 115 main but changed it to the 112... ...many thanks

When you were on the motorway were you using part/little throttle to maintain a steady cruise?
If so main jet would not really be getting used anyway, probably leaned out.

hi mate its a 2002 px with autolube but i always add a wee tiny drop of 2 stroke in the tank at every fill..... This leans the mixture out even more, ether run it without autolube all together and use the 2% cup method or use autolube addition only and no addition in to tank.

Very. Too much oil means your fuel is too thick, so not enough gets through your jet and into the crank case and cylinder. As a resut, your motor will be running too hot because it'll be running lean, and you risk a heat seize no matter how much oil you put in.

What plug are you useing ? ? you really wan to go maybe 1/2 sizes colder..what pipe are you useing too Personnelly those 166's are awesome kits BUT for it to work well and to its realiable potential because the base transfers on those are pretty large would be to match the cases change the crank or just modify yours ,P200 carb (24/24) up gear it ,i would use again p200 gears and clutch and you will be very surprised on how well she'll go .....

nik, i brought a px200 banded clutch. The drive cog had more teeth so i swapped it for the one i had in my other clutch, could i swap to the 200 drive cog? an would it improve performance?

Does it use the cosa type clutch ? ? ? Their different to early P200's and 125's(smaller version of the 200) I use a standard genuine 3 plate clutch with stiffer springs in my 225 malossi and its not banded either and works very well with help from a nylon lined multi twine cable .....

Oh right ......so how many teeth ? ? I think youve a choice im pretty sure that the T5 or /and the 200 should go straight in ( but just buy the drive cog .....

T5 20 teeth
PX 125 21 teeth
PX 150 22 teeth
PX 200 23 teeth
P2 units will only mesh with their 65 tooth primary, the rest will be fine on the 68.

Same happened to me on pinasco 177 kit a few years ago at 70 mph-didnt catch it quick enough and lost control came off and broke my shoulder ouch anyway checked the engine out and couldnt see any reason for it but i was using autolube on 24mm carb turns out after many conversations that i should ditch the autolube and tank fill with oil as pump cant keep up with the fuel flow .since then never used autolube.
