hi vince, somethings not right mate... im not being rude but you have got the rear hub washer fitted between the hub and nut ...??
are the five wheel nuts fully tight.... i know my answers might sound obvious to check, but sometimes its easy to over look stuff when your worried... if you ride the scooter with play like that in the rear hub you will more than likely damage the splines inside the hub...
if your newly fitted rear hub bearing has gone, its quite likely that when you walk along pushing the scooter( engine not running) it will sound very gritty and creakey....
always a bit easier to help when we can actually see the scooter..

True. Take off the hub and backplate and see what's what if your nuts are tight. Oo err missus... ;D

Silly question- have you got the right bearing in the engine? also is there any wear on the layshaft itself which might allow for the extra play?

Some largeframe drums have a tendency to wear their teeth away if not tightened properly (e.g. when main shaft did not sit in the bearing fully when tightened up). Requires a new drum, possibly.
