Thinking of looking out for a mark 1 T5...any ideas of a ruff cost of what I should be looking at.

It'll cost you a lot of respect on here for riding a lardy! Seriously though, a grand will pick you up a usable runner with an original T5 engine. £1500 for a nice one. Make sure it is the real McCoy under the bubble though, having a PX engine or something in there will bring the value down by a fair margin.

Quuick way to check if its a T5 is it will have an alloy cylinder and if I remember rightly the exhaust bolts on rather than clamps. And of course you will tell if you test ride it.

Unless it's Polini kitted which means a cast iron barrel. As said the T5 has a bolted on exhaust stub and the only others that did this from memory were Bajaj although it would be pretty easy to tell at a glance or quick test drive.
Only modern lardy that I really like, T5's rip.
And about a grand would be a fair price for a reasonable runner but you could pay £1,500 or more for a really tidy one.
