What is the cheapest/easiest route for electronic ignition on a smallframe?
I'm currently using 6v points and a standard small taper primmy crank.
Cheers, Rog

One route is to try to find an ET3 flywheel & stator. Striaght bolt on swap. Don't know if some PK stuff would work...

Ah, thank you - so would article J50016000 be all I need except for the wiring harness and bulbs?

I think you might need another light switch too.I'm pretty sure someone on here said you can get Rally or similar conversion switches from Beedspeed.

What model/years did the PK's change from the small taper to the large taper crank?

Ok, so now I have an early PK electronic flywheel and stator plate, and I picked up a Ducati CDI and regulator at Wicksteed yesterday. What next? Where's the best place to mount the cdi/regulator? (The primmy 75 frame I'm using looks the same as an ET3 so looks like it has holes for wires etc in the left panel toolbox)
Also the stator plate has two sets of wires coming off of it, one has a weird round plug type connector thing on the end of it, do I still need to use that or should it be changed?
Cheers, Rog

You can put it pretty much anywhere.UnreliableSC put it under the tank on his dads bike, very tidy.
As for the connector block just take the wires out of it and connect as needed.

Thanks for the pic unreliablesc.
MotoVespa placed the coil just above the choke mechanism on mine, it looked neat but means you can't have the plastic toolbox there, so would rather mount it elsewhere so I can use one.
Do standard ET3's put the regulator and cdi in the left panel toolbox?

My motovespa had the coil over the choke to. Do yours have a funky little regulator to? Here is how i did it in the MotoVespa, doesn't the coil mounting look solid ;D ;D

Nah, mine didn't have a regulator, just a femsa coil. Was yours electronic ignition as standard then? Just had a look at it in the projects section, looks damn sweet, gotta love the MotoVespas ;D I'm trying to start up a website about MotoVespas ( www.motovespa.moonfruit.com) would I be able to put a few pics of your bike on it once I get a chance to properly update it? Cheers, Rog

No, it had a Motoplat points ignition, only 4 wires. It had 12V bulbs in it, but I don't know if it was 6 or 12V as i never had it running with the points.
Go ahead and post pics, if you want me to take some better ones that can be arranged.

in the very bottom left corner you can see the two holes to resiliently mount the CDI on an Et3 in the left toolbox. Et3 does not have a regulator, and therefore bolts straight on any 6Volt Primmy- or V50 loom!
