Hello chaps, I need to remove the gear selector arm on an old set of casings I have. Now it look like theres a pressure fit pin holding the selector on the outside of the casings and i'm assuming this needs to be knocked out before the whole mechanism can be lifted out. Has anyone ever done this ? whats the least destructive way? and is there an o ring seal on the selector rod ? I know this is a strange query but i don't want to rebuild the whole motor to find oil starts pissing out the bottom of the casings Ps hello again, its been a while

I did it once. Had to abuse it a fair bit. But you got the right idea. just go at it with a punch. There is a O-ring in there.

i had to move my pk gear selector and put them into my new race cases. its a tapered pin that knocked out relatively easy. because its tapered, it only comes out one way, so dont knock it out the wrong way or it will get more stuck. cant remember whih way, but i could see the small end of the pin. but i got my engineer to remove it again, it took him 3 hours! and he had to grind a slot in the actual changing disk. i had previousl used retaining compound to mount thr change.
so it can be easy, or bloody hard to remove. if you use locktite, dont plan removing it again.

Luckily I have an engineer mate so I think I'll pass the problem on to him while I sit back in the sun with a cold tinny ;D
