What exhaust are you changing it for?
I find it easiest to lay the bike down on the engine side so get a blanket or some other form of protection down first. It's certain everything will be caked it crud so get a decent wire brush and clean as much of it off as possible at the engine pivot mount and elbow on the barrel and then give everything a good lube up with preferably a decent graphite penetrating oil and allow to soak in.
I should've said if it's a non standard pipe that doesn't fit on the existing elbow then remove the barrel cowling before you lay it on the ground.
Should be fairly straight forward for you unless the nuts are siezed on which there's a very good chance of. Ask again if you get stuck.

Right I've got the old exhaust off but it looks way different from what suppliers are selling as a PK50 Xl exhaust or even sito exhausts. Its got a 'Shaft' rear baffle end can piece. Does anyone know what exhaust this is? The out bore at the end is 35mm with a 32mm inner bore. Thanks

That is what they call a "performance" exhaust mann. Should give you a little more power.

Cheers for the posts guys. Mine looks slightly different as the mounting point to the head doesn't need an elbow.
It maybe performance but its got a big 'ole in it, so its going in the bin, think i'll get a sito to replace it with and ditch the end can thingy.
Its a 50 engine with a 110 DR kit, 19/19 carb, uprated primary's, bigger crank, should a sito exhaust suit this engine?
Cheers

Cheers for the info Rob. I did mean bigger crank, someone else built the engine before I bought the scoot, so i'm only running on their receipts and word of mouth as to what's fitted.
My options do seem limited for the exhaust, as I run a spare wheel under the left side cowling. The main jet is an 84.
Thinks it's gonna be a sito, but thanks for the link, it's much appreciated.
Cheers

Just to round this post off.
I put a sito exhaust on and the performance is definately improved, nice and quite too like a nice purr.
The old weird peice of crap exhaust which actaully looks like it was cut from the head of medussa must have been shot to bits.
And to think i'd been running that thing and under performing without knowing it for 18 months.
