Just received a new floor runner kit for the girlfriend's et3 which comes with rubbers, end caps and rivets. Is there a special tool for fitting these rivets or is there a method using something else? Thought I'd ask before I fit them because there's every chance I'd muller a few before working out how to do it. Really time I pulled my finger out with this scoot, I told her it'd be ready for the IOW and that's just a fortnight away. Looks like she'll be learning to ride a geared scoot on the way to Portsmouth then.

Yep there is.
Take them out of the packet, measure with verniers the width (think it will be 3.2mm) go to a diy shop and purchase some LONG pop rivets of the same width. And a pop rivet gun if required (get one with a fine nose so they will fit into the runner strip channels) Some of the rivet washers may also be of assistance.
Return home and open dustbin lid. Carefully place the rivets that came with the kit in the bin. Close dustbin lid (ensuring it is not "crocodile" fashion or the bin men may refuse to empty it)
Commence attaching floor runner strips using newly purchased pop rivets, laughing at the ease of application.
Discover even though you bought LONG ones the ones which fit through the dragons teeth are STILL not long enough so drill out some of the dragons teeth to allow fitment.
To properly fit the rivets that come with the kit you have to mushroom them out with a hammer and punch, this will of course mean that at several points you will slip off the rivet and put the punch into / through the floor / legshields.
Instead utilise the hammer and punch on any thread counting T**T who says you should use the standard rivets, for originality.

Pop rivets fine for floor runners. For endcaps, easiest way is screws & nuts. Long thin ones. Do up, then just snap the excess off with pliers. If you're really being picky, I'm sure a specialist fastener supplier would be able to get tiny dome cap screws, which would lok like rivets from above anyway..

Oh yeah....and dont forget to try not to get too frustrated when the floorkit isnt a perfect fit, and you have all the fun of bending them to shape on the legshield curve.... ;D ;D ;D Wonder if the smallframe floorkit is missing a hole each side like the largeframe ones?
