Hi All, what would be the best option around flywheels for small cone crank?! Lighten/hp4/ets?!?!?!?! I have a standard one at the mo, which to be honest seems ok but when I take it off I somehow feel that the little flimzy crank must be having a hard time hanging on to it when goign down through the gears for roundabouts etc... Don't want to spend a fortune as I am saving up ....

you'd have to change crank for the ets wouldnt you?
lightening is cheapest option, £11.95 from beedspeed, but no flywheel for a week or so, HP4 - i fancy one of those
ps. just remember youre saving up for the M1 kit

Thats well cheap.. thought it would be more than that to be honest!!! not sure I could wait that long mind!!
Do Af or chiselspeed do them? while you wait?!?!?
I know I am saving, but everyone with the m1 seems to run variotronic and I can't really sly another 200 past the missus for one of them aswel...... It should be right enough with the standard stator shouldn't it?!?!
I wish these things were simple.....

Lighten it. A ETS is a 24mm cone and HP4s have quite a few problems. Never over lighten though,it'll make the clutch act as a counterweight and cause accelorated bearing wear and potential casing damage.

Oh yeah, forget about the Vespatronic too.Use a standard 12v system with some PM Tuning ignition trickery.Ask Oz.

Never over lighten though,it'll make the clutch act as a counterweight and cause accelorated bearing wear and potential casing damage. i thought that was only on large frames where some twat stuck the clutch on the end of the crank, ive gone as light as i can before and ive found the lighter the better, ive even fucked about with points, the boss/cam off the flywheel a disc to weight it and a battery, revs fucking mental, fast as fuck but not very practical or easy to start, i used to get mine done at a local engineers who used to take off as much metal as poss so as not to have magnets flying all over the place all th fins would come off and id go down the scrapyard and get some plastic fins off an old auto and self tap it to the flywheel. but like you say with the standard flywheel and the small cone, i have had several snap the taper off at high revs which isnt very funny at 70 when the flywheel suddenly departs the engine and overtakes you at about 100mph

yeah theres a fine line and i find the lighter you can get a smallframe flywheel the better especially when there tuned and revvy, lammys are the same its just those wanky clutch cranked pxs that dont seem to like it, you need a bit of weight to keep it goin without a 2000 or more rpm tickover. but if i had the dosh id go lc and put some sort of mx/enduro ignition/flywheel on it, i say lighten it to fuck but then it aint my motor. cadge a flywheel off some1 and do it as much as poss and try it out. have fun ;D

Looks like someone in the past has took the fins of mine and self tapped plastic fins to it It has got AF and 90 painted on the back of the fins in yellow paint
