i just heat up the casing round the bearing with a blow lamp (hot one) and then tap the bearing out.

i'd go with the blow torch and tapping technique.... heat all casing around the bearing. the alloy conducts heat better than the steel of the bearing so it should expand quicker than the bearing shell... the oven works too but if you leave it in too long then both the casing and shell expand and its less effective... so if you do try the oven, go for hot and not long.. also if the casings are not to clean stick some foil under it as ant grease left on it will get hot and run off.... wife not pleased

How do you tap the bearings on the outer casing, where you can't get at the back of them Is it an oven job?

Remember to spread a little margerine on the bottom to avoid sticking, and a beaten egg on top will give a lovely golden brown colour.
