Just thought I,d say hi Now for some questions I,ve picked up a PK80 with electric start and thinking of going for a kit 133 or there abouts what would be best I,d like it to be reasonbly reliable ( I,ve got 2 lammys that always seem to be in bits ) . Also what sort of carb kit is best reed or normal manifold. It has a 19/19 on it is that standard What sort of speed do you get out of the malossi, DR or polini kits (they will be trying to pull 16 stone )and what are they like to live with. The Zirri and is it M1 look a bit out of my price range. Also what tools will I need for stripping the engine (noticed none of my lammy ones fit ;D) The teeth on the flywheel have alread took three chunks of skin off. Oh and there will be loads more dum questions to come Thanks Gaz

lot of questions, gaz! ;D dont worry though, i'm normally the one who asks dumb questions, so it'll make a change. the 19/19 carb was std with pk80's, i've got one, not kitted it yet as im working on my pk125ets. you wont be able to find out what gearing pk80's have, no one seems to know! in my minor experience I'd go for Polini (speed) or DR (reliability), upgear kit, better clutch, better exhaust and 24mm carb. flywheel holder, flywheel puller, clutch puller

Better take a trip to Beedspeeds in the morning for the tools then ;D You say no one knows the ratio on the gears so how do I no which upgear kit to go with it or is there only one Also do all small frame parts interchange or is there differences between each model Gaz

the upgear kits will fit any smallframe, you just decide what ratio you want. if youre putting a 130/135 kit on you'll want either 2.54 (24/61) or 2.56 (27/69). i just mentioned the PK80 thing, cos i was wondering whether the gearing was similar to the PK100/PK125's, rather than PK50's and maybe wouldnt need to upgear, but no one seems to know, so i would fit an upgear kit anyway. loads of smallframe bits are interchangable, but then quite a few differences particulary between the PK's and the older V50/90/125 series. the PK80/PK100/PK125 already have the lager crank, so you can fit the bigger 130/135 kits, whereas on a PK50 you'd have to change the crank unless you want to just go to a 115, i think thats right! www.scooterhelp.com/website.lineone.net/~smallframes/invaluable ;D - loads of guides with pictures of engine stripping down, etc. makes it loads easier.

i used a flywheel holder on mine, its a lot easier. no you dont need a replacement crank unless you really want a 'racing crank', the moneys prob best spent elsewhere

Hi Gaz.
Choice of kit comes down to what you're looking for,DR and Polini are both decent touring kits with a broad spread of power, the Malossi is a lot more powerful but all the power is at the top end.
Avoid the large cone cranks as they won't fit your motor assuming it is the one that should be with an early series PK.
And that flywheel is no use unless you're LCing the motor,I think you should just send it to me. ;D

:PThe use will usually for blipping round town odd run to work (15 miles each way on B roads) and the odd long run 70/80 miles any more I,d use my reliable lammy ;D I,ve been looking at the malossi on the SIP site wiwh their 24mm direct carb set up ( I never done any tuning or the likes so the reed set up will be beyond my abilities) or the Polini one with their carb kit I have bought a base gasket so I could have play with my dremmel did this Do I need to take any out at the top of the opening where there is a cut out in the gasket

The top port cutout is for the ET3/S motors.Don't bother unless the kit you get has a port there.
As for the flywheel?I can't say I've ever seen one like that before,I was expecting a HP4 type arrangement.TBH it looks useless and knackered to me.
