Hi all. Now please don't tell me I should have checked first before re-fitting the engine to the scoot(after removing it to paint it ) but I was told that the carb was possibly full of cack and that is why it didn't start. Got a new carb from SIP, fitted it along with new fuel lines and filter, re-filled the tank(after cleaning it), cranked it and...............................................nowt. OK here goes... Strong Spark New plug New carb(it didn't start with the old one either) Tank is clean Fuel is getting to carb & plug as it is soaked. and still nothing. Have checked the earth cables also. If there is a strong spark AND fuel getting through, what could the problem be. Next step is the scooter shop unless anyone can come up with any ideas.

what's compression like?
Could just be flooded...especially if plug is soaked.

Compression seems fine. Why would it flood if there is a spark though, surely it would go bang with all that fuel.
I am a bit thick on this sort of thing so if you could explain!!!

Have you got the fitting flywheel ? If wrong the ignition timing might be anywhere but near TDC.
