hi to you all.. im a newbie on here.. can you pls advise me.. im currently rebuilding a (1980) v50 special ive got a spanish primmy (super) engine which has the electronic ignition.. im using a new ET3 loom. my question is this... WHAT BULBS DO I USE? IS IT 6V OR 12V ?? i ask because the engine was taken out of my PKXL where it used 12v bulbs. (is this due to the use of the rectifier?) also WILL I NEED A 6 or 12v HORN?? thanx ! DAZ

You have a engine from your primmy form your PK?
If the engine and stator is from the PK XL you have 12V, and the ET3 loom neds some modification.

You will have to mofify the Et3 loom to take the rectifier. But you can use the 6V horn. It will cope with the voltage unless you join a turkish wedding

any idea what mods will need to be done? ive had a look at the wiring loom and diagrams.. all the wiring looks in order the number of wires and colors match up too. stator red/wht/grn(1) > cdi stator > junction box.. OK j box > headset switch & rear brake & rear lamp & headlamp & horn.. OK the only 'extra' wire is for the speedo light there are no wires to a rectifier do i need one? is the rectifier for the indicators or horn or anything else on the PK? thanx ! DAZ

THe additional wiring is for the rectifier - and you will need one. The Et3 6V system is self regulating via the amount and power f bulbs. The PK 12V isn't - needs voltage cut of otherwise your bulbs will go bang every other minute. To go for a PK system you will also have to change the brake light switch and the horn switch to a close on operation type as far as I remember.

sorry... i think my post has caused some confusion!!
the primmy engine is going INTO my 50spec
it has been in sound working order whilst it has been in my PK which has all the PK wiring / cdi / stator / rectifier / indicators / 12v bulbs ect...
if i put the engine BACK INTO my 50spec (round headlamp and light switch/ horn / kill switch) using a et3 loom which appears to have everything i need lights/horn/brake then what rating bulbs / horn do i need 6 or 12v...

Sorry it seems I was confused - If the 6V electronic ignition goes into the 50 Spec you are to use the Et3 loom and 6V bulbs and horn. No rectifier!
