Hi Guys,
I have developed a rattle on my Primmy and it sounds like its coming from the engine and there is a slight amount of play on the flywheel (moves up about 1mm) so decided to get it stripped down and new bearings seals etc done.. The problem is that its only done about 3700 miles since last time.....
What are the highest rated bearings that I could get for this and where could I get some from please?? gonna do the whole lot so a list of what would be needed for a complete strip and rebuild would be a big help too but probably a bit too much to ask.
Cheers

Hey shane. I know beedspeed/Scootercentre (not sure about SIP, they probably do) do a full engine bearing set and a seperate seals set. Not sure on the rating (i'm not sure what that means, NOOB! Is it like strength?). You can find the sizes, by bouncing around the sites though.
Axle bearing (ask hank ;D) Primary drive bearing Flywheel side bearing Main Drive bearing (i've not listed piston bearings) The SIP catalogue has schematic pics in it.

Cheers If you have a look at the SKF website, you can see same size bearings listed with different C numbers (C = dynamic load capacity) the higer the number, the more load they can take. Standard bearings should be enough tho'. I belive C4 bearing have a little slack in them when they are cold, but I'm not sure on that one.

I usually get most of the bearings from: www.simplybearings.co.ukwithin a few days for very reasonable prices 6204 C3 (crank flywheel side ball bearing f. 50) 6303 (crank clutch side) 6204 (main shaft - brake drum) - i use a 6204 2RS here and remove the inner seal! HK1612 (main shaft, needle roller bearing) 6200 (lay shaft) 16005 (primary drive/ clutch basket) Alternative to 6204 C3 for anything bigger than 75ccm: cylindrical roller bearing NU204 C3 Conversion bearing to use an ETS crank in an V50/PK casing: 6005 C3

I may know a way of getting very cheap, quality bearings. Open to bribes. ;D

Cheers for the response's guys, plenty to be looking into I think... Beedspeed seem quite reasonable (oil seals, bearings and gaskets for about £60!!)
Reason I was asking is that I hear all the Lammy boys on about jap bearings on TS1's and don't go near indian or italian so thought that it would be the same for all bearings and would be worth the extra couple of quid if they last longer.....
Juan what kind of bribes are you after and are these bearings already hot when they are aquired?!?
Still need to get the enginge out and the rattle could be from the piston rings yet but thought I would find out what people use bearing wise first.
Cheers

. Juan what kind of bribes are you after and are these bearings already hot when they are aquired?!? Okay lads, this is a genuine deal. They're not knocked off or are seconds or anything but it's possibly a little dishonest. Needless to say I'm not putting it out in the open but if you're intrested in saving yourselves a good few quid then PM me and I'll give you the details.

Hi,
Got the motor out and found that there has been a slight heat seize...... nothing too bad so just give it all a clean up and ordered some new rings.. How long willl these take to run in?? surely it wouldn't be like running in a new piston...
Also found that it has been blowing from the head and through the crankcase into the gearbox... The FAG bearings on the flywheel side have actually melted slightly so its been getting pretty hot in there (I blame myself for this as I down jetted slightly for town riding and then had to do 30 miles or so the other day, and couldn't resist floggin it!!!)
Cheers for the advice folks, Juan, although I was very tempted I need this stuff as soon as, as I ride it daily and so ordered everything from Beedy's (they should be here tomorrow).... Fingers crossed that I get the right bits now!!!!

The overheating came from head and clutch seal blowing and a lean mixture as an outcome! Fit a new (cortecco) sealing ring and torque tighten the head after skimming it on a glass plate with 260-200grain emery! M

the flywheel side ETS bearing is a two piece thing with a needle roller outer and plain inner ring - thought the inner ring wasn't there till i realised it was stuck on the crank - dooooo! should i heat it up and prise it off or do i need to bother? its on in the right place and the other part is the bit that might have worn? ideas?
