I tried them all: red sealant, light gummy sealant and all sorts you can think of.
The best I can think of is just engine oil! You have to oil the carton gasket well and just tight the bolts. The oil fills the paper fibers and causes the paper to expand, literally. Your engine will not be sticky and macky anymore next time you split it. For the other metallic gasket no sealant is really needed, maybe use some grease if you want to hold them in place.

I've never put any gasket or sealant on the head, ever. Never had any problems. I know people wh use red high temperature sealant, I don't see the point

I've never put any gasket or sealant on the head, ever. What about the barrel? I didn't on the 75cc kit, only cos i didn't think about it. And it is a metal gasket, so does it need it?

I always put the one on the barrel, purely because it comes boxed in the kit. Only once I left the PX without and had no problem whatsoever.

I should have trimmed your post better, i just meant sealant, but question answered, cheers. The mechanic that looked at my scoot last, thought he'd stick some sealant on my head anyway. What about anyone else?

I'd never use a sealant on a 'head.

I use a thin smear of bathroom silicone sealant.
Seems to keep the oil in and not bugger anything up.
