Alright all. I'm currently tearing out what little hair i've got. I'm trying to hunt down a timing "How to" . I remember seeing a good one outhere, a long way back, but f**k knows what i did with the link. Anyroad if anyone knows of a good one... I'm getting hold of a timing strobe off a kiddie at work.

You start with marking the TDC at the flywheel: to do so ensure piston is around BDC, put a piston stopper in, paint a radial line at the flywheel, turn the flywheel clockwise until stop - enlongate the line from the flywheel to the cover. THen do the same by turning the flywheel anti-clockwise. You should now have 2 markings on your flywheel cover. The half distance between these lines is TDC --> MARK! Measure the radius from crank centre to the mark (inner edge of mark) - if this makes e.g. 75mm (=r) . You now calculate how many mm of circumference make 1 deg in angle. As per above 75mm this would be: 2*r*PI/360deg = 2*75x3.14/360 => 1.42mm/1deg, i.e. to achieve 19deg advance you have to put another mark at 26mm of circular measure in ANTICLOCKWISE direction onto the flywheel cover. Now you start your engine, put the inductive crimp to the ignition cable (ensure right direction - arrow towards plug usually) - point at your TDC-mark at the flywheel which should align with the advance (19deg in this case) mark. DO NOT TOUCH THE FLYWHEEL - IT ONLY SEEMS TO STAND STILL! ;D

Cheers for the help so far guys. I eventually found the timing piece on scooterhelp, it's hidden in the 130 polini tuning piece. It doesn't go in to advancing the timing in the timing section hank. Anymore help would be good, til it finally sinks in, cheers for all the effort minikin. Maths isn't my strongest, what would it be for a 115cc?

THere is no definite value such as 115 such and such, 133 such and such. Thats only when youre dreaming :-) You can start with 16deg - and increase til motor starts pre-detonating. If you just go around town and use low end power you can give a bit more advance. If youre often revving the motorway stay arund 16deg. Each motor setup is individual - so any recommendation must be considered as such
Cheers
