having just been discussing the possibility that my frame is twisted, does the rear seam have to line up centrally down the center of the frame thru to the headstock ? or what

In theory mate but I'd not use that as a hard and fast guide.

ive never seen a frame which lines up in that way becus the shock is on the right, the left sinks under weight, over time it pulls the frame to the right slightly, nothing to worry about the way i check the frame is str8 is check the seat pin against the headstock

Johnny, you need someone with a frame jig really. A frame is only straight if the two wheels are aligned in both planes. I dont know if you could use a laser aligner. Its an idea? Get from hire shop. Build bike with no tyres. Use spirt level or laser for the vertical front and rear, then use the laser to check the forward alignment between both. Our pressed steel frames can move all over the place. The rear ends move through vibration alone over time. Its no good casting an eye along the bike and saying "ah thats out of line" Its not that simple as the frame can give an illusion.

thats what we were thinking so im gonna put the engine and a set of forks in it and go from there, but as one of the legshields has a small ripple in it im not getting my hopes up for it to be spot on

I talked to this guy about my frame and he was very nice and helpful. After numerous pics and a lot of measuring we came to the conclusion that my frame is straight even though it has a crease at the bottom of the legshield. He thinks it was straightened out at one point but they never bothered to fix the crease or dents up front. Eric

well after all that putting the engine and forks in the wheels align spot bollock, its very deceiving tho as it look like it is bent in the middle by 10-20mm so no need to chop the bastard now, still gonna matt black it tho after the floor is done
