Guys, Hope you can help, i have just bought a 1978 Vespa Douglas Small Frame in the hope of restoring it to it's former glory. I could do with some links to where i can purchase the parts I am going to need, pretty much everything really as I want to try and do a full retstoration. I have put up a website to document the restoration at www.vespa-italia.co.uk you can view photos of the scooter there in it's current state. Any help would be appriciated. Thanks Paul

your best bet is sip-scootershop.com they stock most parts. Can sometimes be a bit tricky to find stuff as the Germans call some things different names to us Brits. Sometimes its almost like they have another language have a play though sure you will find your way around. other than that post up what you need - there's at least a couple of people with outhouses full of hoarded bits...

Hi Paul & welcome - if you put as much time into your scoot as your website, you'll have a really nice scoot! unless youre going for a 100% faithfull restoration I would say 10" wheels would be preferable oh and what part of the country are you?

Swallow many thanks, i do graphics and I.T for a living so that part of it was easy, took half a day ha ha , think the scoot will take a while longer..!! Im in Northumberland, got the scooter on Friday from Catterick Garrison of all places for £500, actually managed to get in the back of VW Golf..!!! Wanted a Vespa for years and had looked all over, even thought about vietnam for all of 10 seconds..ha ha . Dont know that much about the small frame on I have though as the VBB models seem to be more popular to restore..? Started to panic abit when i couldnt find much info on parts etc and just stuck a message up on the VCGB board and was pointed to here by Juan. Just been in my local Italian coffee shop today and the owner has two on the way over from Italy with an original Fiat 500 too, so he said he can source parts too. I would really like to think I could get to the stage of the Red one on here posted by John, may ride it for the summer then start the refurb in September to give me something to do over the winter, im not sure yet.

Hi and welcome mate (nice website). As breezer mentioned, sip is a good source for spare. Also in germany there is scooter center. If you want to stay in the uk, there are a few places where you can buy from: beedspeed, allstyle scooters etc... If you have italian contacts though, Italy is a great place for parts. ;D Good luck.

I really hope that it all fits ok . I've had a few problems with some of their re-made parts not fitting too well.

I've used this bloke in the past. Obviously with the exchange rate it's not that attractive and there's a language barrier but I was happy with the service. Oh, I always thought Lincolnshire was in the North? I placed an order with Beedies yesterday and have had 3 e-mails today from them saying the order was processed, made up and then dispatched. They're never normally more than a couple of days as long as everything is in stock. We'll see but the last time I used them the stuff was with me the next day.
