hi all, new to the scene and got a project on the go in the form of a PK50s with 125 engine, comng together very fast indeed,
anyhow, i`ve noticed that on a few scoot`s the side panel has been cut away and the carb is pushing out, i really didnt want to sound dumb but if u dont no u must ask, so why is that so? I have been told that if the barrel is turned upside down there are a load more horses to be had, is this anything to do with the above? I been reading loads of posts on the forum but stil more to read and learn, thx for reading . Theo, cardiff. i will register for sure.
I`l try to add some pics.
P.s I`d like to thank 225worb for the trimmed down front mudguard......very niiice.... i like it....

Hi mate & welcome.
Re the carbs- some people like this set up (cutaway in bodywork fwd of engine) as it allows better airflow to the carb and better access for adjustments. Also some 'big' carbs are physically too big to fit inside the frame!
There doesn't seem to be much consensus regarding reversal of the cylinder, although it looks trick and allows a straighter run for the inlet tract and possibly a more logical exhaust design.
Good luck with your project- I like the seat in particular. You going to replace the horncast with a XL or ETS one?

Yeah welcome to the scoot restore club. I just am finishing up my first one. It to was also a PK50s so I know what you are up to. Mine was a little bit of an odd ball though it is a 82, it was the first year they made them so it is a bit different then most. It is a long but great labor of love. Mine has taken me since august to get it all done. I am doing everything I can myself. I had no clue what I was doing when I started (I still feel that way sometimes) Check out www.mypk50.blogspot.com to see mine. But if you have any questions about 50s people here are good at answering questions. Daniel
