Hi, thinking about getting a piaggio ape but the one I’m looking at has no dvla registration. Does anyone know how easy it is to obtain one?
Thanks

Charlie, It's gonna be a bit difficult to get an answer without knowing location. Still may not, but random answers from different areas aren't gonna help either.

Do u have any documentation for it? Country of import registration? Nova cert? If so then i think you need to fill in a V55 and send in with docs and payment? If not then i think you will need a letter from club (vespa club of britain etc) to verify age and authenticity. Others will know for sure....

There's a guy on FB "Tik's everything smallframe" that specialises in registering Vespas. I can't remember his name. Ask on there.

dvla so uk based then . depends on age of the ape' an what documents you have . over 40 years old an with a receipt showing it was uk purchased its get a dating certificate . then apply for nova to show its owes no vat or import dutys ,send only copys of the docs as the customs dont return any . with nova you then apply to dvla to register it ,sending the fee an original docs . they will probably want to inspect the vehicle an take photo's of chassis/engine numbers before issuing a reg number . under 40 years its slightly different as you need to go an mot the vehicle on its chassis number then with nova apply to dvla . pete davies at the british lambretta archive is who i use for dating certs .an theres 2 guys who do registrations for people both advertise in the back of scootering mag . rob skipsey 07836544059 an gary seale 07815716593 .H
