having picked up a pk project,movin brought the engine to me to build .arrived as bought,in bits in a box ,with primary loose in cases an tree an clutch centre still assembled in clutch side . i thought the bearing was missing an they where just loosely reassembled for storage . unfortunately not , the circlip retaining ring was no longer attached . IMG_2588 by henri briggs, on Flickr . big problem , so i asked around for replacement cases ,but with no joy .so no choice but to attempt a repair on these cases ,1st step refit a good straight circlip .then out with a end mill cutter an level the area ,leaving the one part circlip groove was there . IMG_2602 by henri briggs, on Flickr . whilst making up a rough pattern in ali sheet ,too later be copied into 1.5mm steel sheet . IMG_2603 by henri briggs, on Flickr . which will later be held down by countersunk machine screws thread locked into place for security . as its having straight cut not helical primarys ,so no lateral load in use . that should keep the circlip an bearing located in place ,wether it will survive any future removals of primarys is anybodys guess .if bearings heated on inner race before attempting to remove primary i reckon it should .H

an after a afternoons bodgery in my play pen we have something . IMG_2647 by henri briggs, on Flickr . just tidy up the steel plate an temper it to hold an its going to work . thinking spring-steel temper ,which if memory serves is heat til purple then plunge into a oil bath . best check my textbooks to be sure 1st .H

so it wa on with the build ,an bottom end put together ,trial fit of barrel to alter top of inlet so they didnt touch/interfere .
