shit that fucks me off anyway, studs, on fitting studs to my cases, i use studs on the clutch cover as it saves wearing out the case thread with constant torque downs when getting clearance for bigger clutches however on my cases the hole next to the lever is an m8 for 6mm then m7 after that who does this shit? it always happens cos some cunt has used a short bolt in there and strippped 5mm of thread i know the answer lets put an m7 in there cos that will work, then that strips the 5mm of thread, need i go on? anyway the m7 seems to be the better thread of whats left, so got some m7 x m6 studs but are not long enough so am thinking m7 bar threaded more into case and then gluing it in with some sort of chemfix if its good enough for buildings and airplanes it should be good for a clutch cover, then it will fill the void of the m8 too, id not do this on a barrel stud but any other options other than welding etc when you look at the angle of the studs they dont seem inline with the flutes on the case ive now found a lammy inlet stud that may work, it has about 8mm of thread

Fit thread repair inserts and then you can go back to the original bolts with no issues. Yes, there are M8OD/M6ID inserts.

i agree with jb collier , many different types , far less likely to strip in the future as they are stronger than the case. top quality repair and better than the original case. Rolls Royce use them on all alloy threads i'm informed. make sure you drill carefully so it's square to the case face.
