Hi All,
I have recently purchased my old special back, and its soon to be going in for powder coating, i just wanted some advice on engine kits as there are so many, I want to keep it looking pretty standard so I want to be able to run with my side door on the special,
Do we have any engine builders on here, im based in the south GU postcode but would be happy to travel ect, thanks V666

GU guildford code , so hampshire hog based eh , use to be gu324nr myself . now in "blighty by sea" ,or brighton as some call it . an have been known to build the odd engine or two for people . so what do you want , as "speeds just a matter of money, how fast ya want to go" as the sign above the mechanic in mad max said . apart from engines built on quattrini or pinasco cases all can be run with a engine door . so a stock 50 can only be kitted upto 110cc ,before changing the crank , then the worlds ya oyster with a 51mm stroke crank . basic upgrade to 130cc an electronic ignition is around £6-700 parts bill . better upgrade to 135cc an fancy stuff bout 1100-1200 . billy big balls an a rip snorter ,peel ya eyelids back over ya head bout £1800-2000 . egig 170 or quatt m200 an ya on a 3k budget minimum . it works like this roughly ,go from 3bhp to 10bhp bout £100 a pony . go from 10bhp to 20ish its £150+ a bhp . 20-30bhp an its 250 a pony ride , 30+ an it gets eye wateringly expensive . but for a road scoot i'd suggest to be usable an fun around 10-16bhp an bags of torque , as bhp tells how fast you can hit the wall , torque is how far you can move the wall .or another way is , dont matter how many ponys ya got in the corral , no torque/stood on ice there goin nowhere . bhp or as its known "Bullshit Hypes Penis" length , but torque talks the talk n walks the walk. a simple mazz crank, vmc iron kit 130cc ,27/69 primarys ,either vmc tork pipe or simonini evo , an probs best get a short 4th gears ,runs around £700 . with ignition upgrade an decent clutch ya looking 1k , an 14-15bhp . We bike riders often confuse BHP & torque.
1BHP is 550 ft.lb/ sec or 0.746Kw or 746 watts
BHP is torque times RPM
turning a shaft using 1 nm of force at 1 RPM requires 1 watt of power. 1Kg applied to a 1M lever will produce 9.81 N.M
But power at low RPM is always nice.
Pedantic yes, but I am a high functioning psychopathic engineer
