Yet another “toy/project/money pit” to the collection 1970 BSA Ariel 3 50cc moped. 20201120_152410 by Howard Roberts, on Flickr 20201120_152432 by Howard Roberts, on Flickr not seen the road for many a decade! engine is Dutch anker M48 single cylinder aircooled. Found like this 20201120_152355 by Howard Roberts, on Flickr 20201120_152341 by Howard Roberts, on Flickr Full rebuild, now looks like this 20210514_123144 by Howard Roberts, on Flickr 20210514_123137 by Howard Roberts, on Flickr hooked up a temp fuel tank and spun the flywheel with a drill and socket as its a pedal start normally, fired 1st time and sounded good! barrel and ports have a similar arrangement to the lambretta. Don’t think they made a big bore kit for the Ariel3! Screenshot_20210501-151836_eBay by Howard Roberts, on Flickr usual problem is no frame number stamped on frame, just a stupid sticker instead. should look like this Screenshot_20210430-152901_Gallery by Howard Roberts, on Flickr the remains of mine! 20210430_135637 by Howard Roberts, on Flickr Now the lengthy fun bit of trying to track down any form of Records so I can register it.

Just searched the norfolk records office online catalogue and found that the mopeds original registration card could be on file there. So will have to pay to get copy of card....progress!

Well the cost should be £54! did a bit of sweet talking and got them to send me a pdf of the card for free! Screenshot_20220520-125453_Gallery by Howard Roberts, on Flickr good job I didnt Pay! Next to no info. Got the registration date tho. they also hold the summary cards for the registrations YNG1J - YNG999J, showing which garages sold those registrations. More sweet talking to see if I can find out who originally sold it ( I know damn well that the garage won’t see be trading😩😩😩!)
