Anyone any idea of the wiring, I've no wiring loom for this yet so any pointers appreciated I've seen an electronic conversion loom but dont know if that would do it or if its needed for standard ET3 stator?

Thinking maybe just fit an ET3 loom or upgrade to 12v stator kit, need to keep costs down though hmmm

The ET3 has 6v electronic stator ignition. Has your Special been modified with a 6v Coil & Regulator? You can achieve a cheap 12v conversion by purchasing a 12v Coil, Regulator, PK 12v stator (not PKXL, Won't fit) ET3 or 12v conversion loom, Beedspeed sell the looms with a wiring diagram, you need to a PX type brake switch as well. search about reckon about £100ish for the lot if you fit it yourself.

Want to save money? Stick with what you have. The Ducati electronic ignition works well, is easy to fix when it does break and parts are readily available. ET3 wiring diagram can be found here: scooterhelp.com/electrics/pages/VMB1T.prim.html50 specials were made in many variations. What do you have?

Cheers both for the info yes I think I'll stick with the original stator, so you reckon I'd be able to just fit an ET3 loom, after all the switches do same job just a different shape. The special was all in bits when I got it without a loom so no modifications, I'll look at frame number later Cheers

Yes an ET3 loom would be ok as long as you have an ET3 Coil & regulator? if so only difference in the loom is the black & green wires which run to the headset ignition switch on an ET3, you can just tape them up.

An ET3 doesn't have a regulator and it uses the usual Ducati CDi box.
The brake light circuit (blue) is the short to earth for off type so make sure you have a normally open brake light switch.

Yeah my old ET3 didn't have a regulator as standard only when I put a Vespatronic on it. Ok so I'll get an ET3 loom when ready to build, brake light switch is the same from memory not like a PX etc works opposite for 12v. Cheers again I'll sort it hopefully with the wiring diagrams 👍
