interesting thing, if you read a contract between you and builder (if you get one) it will usually say all materials and works are property of the builder until payment is received and they can take stuff back if not paid etc etc. So, if he did the work to the windows etc and hadn't been paid then they still belong to him and in theory he can destroy his own stuff if he wants to. pretty dodgy defence though I reckon.
